THE HAPPILY EVER AFTER

So my dummies, this is the last chapter. I am going to list some pointers here that might help you get some more votes, comments and reads. Read up and vote if you like!

1)      Beg and grovel: - At the start and the end of each chapter, write long notes requesting votes and comments. You don’t get anything until you ask for it. I have learnt this the hard way. I should have done that. It would have probably made some of those who read the previous chapters take pity on me and maybe they would have voted :P

2)      Spread the word: - Now, since you can not go around posting links to your story on random people’s message board and stories, copy the links and post them on different social networking sites. Say those are links to some really funny stuff (even if it’s not). Make it sound like that they’ll be missing out on something great like the making of Justin Bieber or something. It’ll fool your friends into clicking the links. This way, even if they don’t like your stuff, at least you’ll get some more reads!  *On a side note, there are actually lots of community groups on Facebook which are related to wattpad. You can go there and promote your stories and meet lots of fellow wattpadians.

3)      Show dedication: - Dedicate every single chapter to someone. This will ensure that you get at least one person to either comment or vote on your story. The dedication can actually mean something or it can be totally insignificant. It’ll be better if it isn’t the latter though.

4)      Claim your stakes: - Write long and if possible, threatening chapters stating the copyrights. This not only make the copycats go away but will also add a whole new chapter to your story. Some people actually vote on these chapters too, so it can always be an added advantage.

5)      Take no blames: - Post disclaimers. Every story has something that’ll offend someone (even if it is about happy bunnies and rainbow pooping Unicorns!). So post notes and chapters saying how you didn’t mean any offence to anyone by writing what you wrote. Also when people see a disclaimer, they immediately sniff scandal in the air and let’s face it- everybody loves scandals (why do you think reality TV is so popular?).

6)      Reverse psychology: - This is a recently, very much accidently discovered but oh so very effective tool. Diss your own work. Say that you know your work is poorly written. Those who read it and pity your self-degrading comments, will leave nice little comments saying how your story doesn’t suck. Really effective tool it is. But it CAN backfire if your story is actually very-very-very….poor.

7)      Stand by her forever: - Stick by you story’s side no matter what. People leaving bad comments? Ignore them or get them involved by making them point out your flaws. The latter will make them happy and maybe will improve your story. Do either but don’t quit writing! Nobody voting for your stories, you say? Well forget them! Vote for your own stories. This may sound silly but everybody, even the famous writers here vote for their own stories too (this reminds me that I haven’t voted for my stories yet!)

So…these are my final tips. I’ll add more things if anything new comes to my mind. But for all intents and purposes, this is complete. I’ll take my own advice for once and beg. If you have read this and liked, please vote. And I don’t mean just the first or the last chapter but all the chapters that you liked. Finally I wish you all best of luck with your stories and hope that at least some of the tips come to your aid in your next venture!
