Sebastian's Second Son part 6

Blissful

••• Caspar's point of view •••

The morning was calm. A twitch of a foot here, a small sniffle there. It was as if the madness of last night had completely dissolved into this blissful state of calm. I stirred about, my bed being warmed by the bodies that slept in it. There was a tilt to the mattress as someone crawled quietly off of it. I blinked my eyes a few times before a small figure came into focus. I pulled my blanket over my bare chest as I watched her collect her things that were strewn about my room.

Anna's dark hair shone as she passed by the slit of sunlight peeking though the curtains. I smiled dazedly at her as she passed by me. She caught sight of my conscious body and stopped to whisper, "I have to get home, my bro-"

I cut her off with a small nod. I understood her position and that I couldn't afford to be selfish and ask her to stay. Some things were so fragile that you couldn't mess with them, otherwise they'd be ruined forever. I learnt that the hard way. When I was around six years old I had cut one of my drawings in half to see what would happen. I had cried that day, even after Mom tried taping the paper back together it was just too fragile. The paper wasn't the same and small rips had appeared in it.

I watched as Anna slipped out of the room, her feet padded ever so lightly against the carpet. I nuzzled my head into my pillow after I could no longer feel her delicate presence in my room. I heard a small groan come from the other bed. I rolled to my side and forced my eyes open to see crystal blue ones blinking back at me. I couldn't help but think Dan was incredibly adorable in the mornings. His hair was messed and sticking out at odd angles. His cheeks had this slight blush to them. "Casp, I'm cold." He whined.

I didn't have to think, my feet were already dragging me out of bed and to his resting place. Dan's face lit up as I neared, he scooted over and pulled the sheets back for me. I crawled in with Dan, his arms immediately embracing my torso. My breath hitched as my skin came in contact with his, he'd lost his shirt somewhere in the night also. He traced patterns on my back, I imagined his fingers; long and bony as they danced over my skin. Dan's movements stopped momentarily to pull me closer, as if we weren't close enough before we sure as hell were now.

"I hate this place," Dan mumbled with a sigh.

"What, my house or?"

Dan shook his head. "This earth, and some of the people on it."

I couldn't help but let my fingers run through Dan's messy hair. "Was it your parents again?" Dan nuzzled his head into my chest and mumbled a 'yes'. The vibration of his words rattled through my bones. I shivered unintentionally, Dan thinking I was cold pressed into my body even more - wrapping his arms even tighter around my back.

Dan lifted his head from my chest, he really shouldn't have. As soon a I caught glimpse of his eyes I couldn't look away. He didn't seem to be able to either.

"Dan."

"Caspar."

I felt my head moving in to be closer to his. I noticed he was tilting his face upwards to almost meet mine. There was a knock on the door, a small curse escaped my lips before shoving Dan under the blankets. I pulled the duvet over us just as the door creaked open. Livius poked his head in, I was panicking at the thought of him noticing the other body in my bed. Hopefully he would just assume it is Anna.

"Uh, Caspar." Livius noticed the other body but didn't say anything. "I need your help again." My twin hesitantly lifted his shirt to show blood had soaked through the bandage, fresh crimson cuts poked out from underneath the edge of the bandage.
