*Night time, helping my dad wash dishes, brother in shower, mom at work*

Dad: "Hey I wanna ask you something serious."

Me: *hands Dad plate* "Alright..."

Dad: *takes plate and puts in dishwasher* "You know what your mom and I have is really messed up right?"

Me: *scrubs bowl* "Yeah, I know."

Dad: "Okay, I just want you to know that's not how relationships are suppose to be."

Me: *hands Dad bowl* "Yeah, I know."

Dad: *takes bowl, places in dishwasher* "I'm trying to fix it, but your mom..."

Me: "Yeah, I know. I know she's the one. She likes to give silent treatments."

Dad: "Yeah, she does that to everyone though. Even her lifetime friends."

Me: *rinses sink* "I know."

Dad: *grabs dishwasher soap* "Yeah well, I just want you to know that's not how relationships work."

Me: *walks away from kitchen* "Yeah, I know."
