My heart is in your hands

My soul is yours to keep

What I feel for you stands

In a river, so wide and deep

My eyes see only you

My heart speaks your name

My spirit hums true

Only you, my heart, can tame

Why is it that no one else I see

Can come close to you in stature?

As that of the man who set me free

And showed me a greener pasture

I want to live in the green

With you close by my side

With a love in our hearts so keen

It defeats the raging tide

I want to see the world

With you to hold my hand

To see God’s creation; wings unfurled

We take flight across a distant land

We set down softly

You take me in your arms

Your kisses set me free

You enchant me with your charms

You are my king, and I your queen

My loyalty you inspire

For my heart, you have seen

And my soul, you set on fire

I dare to dream the dream of love

But my heart is miles away

So, I set my hopes on up above

Because my heart will never stray

My heart is a rare jewel

My most precious gift

One thing I ask, that you be not cruel

And set my heart adrift

I wish to be no man’s fool, not I

My heart has hurt enough

You, who set my heart to fly

Can also treat it rough

So, change not who you are

Be generous and kind

Help me reach that star

Stay in my heart and mind

The road has been rough alone

My future dreams did cease

But for my sins, I did atone

And, the Lord, He gave me peace

You came along and changed my life

And pulled me from the mire

My heart was freed from strife

And in your hands, did it retire

So, treat it well, I beg of you

With tenderness and love

So we may become two

But one, with God above
