Chapter 25

I had always considered myself to be somewhat intelligent. I wasn’t a genius, but I didn’t think myself an idiot either. I was usually happy at being solidly in the middle.

However, at that moment, as I watched the man I had considered a friend talk calmly with my kidnapper, I wished that I had been on the more intelligent side. Then, would I have noticed? What I have been able to predict the fact that Luke, my head bodyguard, was the one putting me in danger in the first place?

No, I told myself, shaking my head slightly; I don’t know if anyone would’ve been able to see this. That thought both pleased and terrified me. If no one else would have been able to predict it, that meant I wasn’t a complete idiot. But, it also meant that the chances of Damien or anyone else figuring it out and saving me were just that much smaller.

I still hadn’t totally wrapped my head around the fact. Luke, my friend and the first person Damien seemed to trust with me, was involved in all of this?

I yelped as my arm was harshly grabbed and stumbled out of the vehicle. Zack didn’t look down at me as I was dragged around the front of the sedan, his grip on my arm blocking blood flow and making my lower arm start to tingle. I tried to tug away, wincing, but his grip only tightened as he hauled me forwards. As we rounded the front of the sedan, Kane turned to face us, giving Luke a view of us as he did.

It wasn’t the Luke I knew. Nothing about the man in front of me was familiar, from the way he was dressed to the look on his face. His normal t-shirt and shorts was replaced by some tan dress pants and a sharp looking button up shirt that was light blue. Not just that, but I almost couldn’t recognize him facially. His eyes were cold and sinister now and his mouth seemed to be stuck in a taunting smirk; he wasn’t at all like the man I thought I knew.

I dug my heels into the ground as Zack started to drag me closer, not wanting anywhere near the evil being with Lukes face. However, considering Zack was bigger than me in both strength and height, my struggling didn’t do much good. Eventually, he simply planted me on my feet, leaving me standing right before Luke. I felt Kane next to me and saw him sneer down at me out of the corner of my eye. I ignored him, meeting Luke’s unfeeling eyes, fighting off the urge to flinch.

This wasn’t my friend, this wasn’t Luke. The Luke I knew would never have done this. But now that I thought about it, I had to wonder if the Luke I thought I knew even existed. Bad things had been happening to me almost since immediately after I had arrived. But, if he had always been like this, then why was he such close friends with Damien, and why did Damien trust him so much? I was pretty sure Damien would have been smart enough not to trust the man in front of me.

“It seems you guys pulled this off better than I expected.” Luke said and I couldn’t help but stare. Even his voice was different! It was higher pitched and more cocky. Kane puffed out his chest at my side and I pictured Zack doing the same. I wasn’t sure what had happened to Tyler, but at the moment, I couldn’t care less.

“She’s not exactly a challenge, Sir.” Kane said, and this time, I actually looked towards him. First off, since when did Kane call anyone sir? Second, how exactly would he know how challenging I was? It wasn’t like he ever moved his behind from the sedan to help Tyler pull me in. Luke chuckled, drawing my attention back to him. He shook his head, his slight chortle cruelly amused.

“You just don’t quite know her very well, do you?” With that, Luke dropped his dark eyes to me. I didn’t see his hand sneak out, but I certainly felt it as it wrapped tightly around my shoulders. He jerked me against him and I had no choice but to use him for support as I started to fall. I fought against him once I had managed to stabilize myself but my attempts to free myself were useless.

He ignored my struggles, instead swinging me around so that I faced the door leading into the large cabin. His hands now slid down to grip my upper arms with strength that neither harmed me, nor did it allow me to move. I stumbled forwards as he gave me a light push, steering me directly through the front door.

“Um, Sir, what do we do now?” Zack asked from somewhere behind me. I heard Luke give a light snort above my head.

“Go and help Damien look for her; lead him anywhere but here.” He replied, making my hopes sink even lower. With Zack, Kane, and Tyler pretending to be Ray, they could all push Damien in the complete opposite direction. Before I could argue, Luke gave one final nudge which propelled me into the house and shut the door firmly behind me.

            “Now, let’s talk, shall we?”

“I don’t want to talk! I want you to explain!” I seethed, turning to face him with my fists clenched. He merely chuckled and walked around, heading towards the kitchen that could easily been seen from the living room. I didn’t pay attention to the cabin around me; I honestly didn’t care.

“There isn’t much to explain. You walked into Damien’s life, and you screwed up mine.” He said simply, shrugging his shoulders. I gaped at him, wondering what he was going on about.

“What do you mean? I didn’t do anything to you!” I insisted. He slammed his fists onto the counter, making me jump.

“Yes, you did! I was going to be Alpha, me! But then you had to slut your way into Damien’s life, therefore causing a fight to break out between him and Kane. And then, he went and challenged Kane, and before I could stop him, he was Alpha!” I gaped at his outburst, feeling a few small pieces of the puzzle fall into place.

“But… that wasn’t my fault. Do you think I asked Damien to kidnap me in the first place?” I screamed, just about sick of this whole ordeal. Luke smirked then and I took a step back, knowing his next words would be unpleasant.

“No, but you’re not here to be punished. You’re here as bait. I’m going to lure Damien here, and then, when he’s distracted by the fact that he found you, I’m going to kill him.”

Chapter 24= worse chapter ever. :/ I know

Sorry guys, it's late too. I'll make the next one longer.

Anyways, aren't we just totally thrilled with Luke? Sorry guys, but he had to be the bad guy. No one would have suspected him off it. XD

Don't worry, all your confusion should be cleared up in the next chapter; if you're wondering what happened to Kyle, how Tyler is Involved, and about all the deals, I'll hopefully clear that all up.

Oh, and some of you (most of you) were confused about who Luke was last chapter. Kyle and Luke are twins. We met them in one of the first chapters and they are almost always together. Kyle is typically thought of as the dumb twin while Luke was more level headed and smart. Hope that helps XD

I'm going to post a little character analogy thing in a little bit. A lot of the characters from the beginning are going to be mentioned in the next few chapters, so I don't want you all confused.

ANYWAYS
