The next day, I went to school as usual with Lora and Darren.
When lunch time came, Darren seemed unusually...happy.
Lora and I were sitting at our lunch table when Darren walks over with a smile.
"Hey Darren. Your smile's freaking me out right now. What's up?" I said.
"Ah, nothing. Nothing really." he says, taking a seat across from me.
"Nothing really? Really?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah. Just having a good day. That's all." he said, taking a bite out of his pizza.
"Alright, spill it, Darren." Lora says.
"There's this new girl in my english class and she is hot! We talked for a while since she and I were assigned together in a project." he says.
Lora and I just looked at eachother.
    "Wait...that's it?" I asked.
    "Yeah." Darren replies.
    "Wow...that was stupid." I said.
"That wasn't stupid. That was great. She's hot and I think I'm falling for her." he says.
"Guys are so brainless." Lora says, "Just looking at the girl's looks and they instantly fall in love."
"Agreed." I said, rolling my eyes.
"Hm, whatever. From your perspective, it might be wierd but for mine, it's great." he says.
I just shook my head as Lora rolled her eyes.
As I ate my pizza, I spotted a girl, walking over to our table.
"Hi, Darren. Mind if I sit with you?" says the girl.
    "Hey Stella. Sure." Darren says.
The girl, who I believe her name is Stella, sits down next to Darren and smiles at us.
"Thanks. I didn't want to sit alone nor with strangers." she said.
"Guys, this is Stella. The new girl here." Darren says.
"Guys? We have a name, Darren." Lora says.
"Yeah, whatever." he says, his eyes glued on Stella.
    "I'm Tara." I said.
    "Lora." Lora says.
"Hi." Stella greets with a shy smile, "Nice to meet you two."
"So, Stella, where did you move from?" Lora asks.
    "NYC, New York." Stella replies.
"That's cool. I've been there before. We went there to see a broadway musical." I said.
    "Oh, what musical?" she asks.
    "Wicked." I responded.
"I've seen Wicked before! It's a great musical." she says.
"I know right? I love how they tell these certain characters, how they became the scarecrow, the tin man and the li---"
"Hey Tara!" I heard a bright, familiar voice call my name.
I turned around and saw Ashton, walking towards me.
"Hey Ashton." I said with a smile.
Ashton takes a seat next to me and looks at Stella, "Hey uh...Ste...Ste...Ste---"
    "Stella." she corrects.
"Stella, right." he says with a nod, "Sorry, I'm not good with names."
"Ew, did you know an average human eats 8 spiders in their lifetime at night?" Lora says with a disgusted face.
Stella, Darren, Ashton and I just looked at her.
"Thank you for sharing, Lora." I said, sarcastically.
    "Isn't that gross?" she asks.
    "Yes, it is." Darren replies.
"What are you doing?" I asked her.
"Just looking at the wierd facts app." she replies.
    "You would." Darren says.
"And did you know that every day, the average person swallows about a quart of mucus?" she says.
"Lora, that's disgusting." I said, scowling.
"Just wanted to share." she says.
"Sorry if she's scaring you, Stella." Darren says to Stella.
    Stella smiles, "Oh it's fine."
"I am not scaring you, Stella. I'm just giving everyone interesting facts, that's all." Lora complains.
"Lora, you're telling us disturbing facts." I said.
"Well...that is true." she says, "But you know it's interesting."
"So, Stella. Wanna come over to my place to work on our assignment together?" Darren asks Stella.
    "Sure!" Stella says.
"Your place? You mean, my place." I corrected.
Stella looks at me and Darren with a puzzled look.
"It's kind of a long story, Stella. I'll tell you when we get to my place." he says, "Or I could just say that I live at Tara's house. I'll explain everything later."
"Oh, alright." she says, still confused.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Wow, I can't believe Darren's your bodyguard. That's so cool." Stella says as she, Darren and I got off the bus.
"It is but Darren can be such a square sometimes." I said.
"A square? What does that even mean?" Darren asks.
"It means that in my definition, you're an idiot." I replied.
"Wow, thanks, Tara." he says, sarcastically.
When we got to my house, mom greeted us at the door.
"New friend, Tara?" mom asks me.
"I guess you could say that." I said.
"Hey babe!" Lance says, walking towards us. He gives me a hug and then looks at Stella.
"Um, Lance. This is Stella, she's a new student at school." I said.
"Hey, Stella." Lance greets her with a smile.
"Hi. It's a pleasure to meet you." Stella greets back. She turns to me and smiles, "Is he your boyfriend?"
    "Actually, I'm her fia---"
"Yup, he's my boyfriend." I interjected and gave Lance a "go with it" look, "Just a boyfriend."
"Yes we are. We're really happy together. So happy that I just want to marry her in three mon---ah!"
I stepped on his foot and glared at him.
"Haha, um so...wanna go upstairs and work on our assignment?" Darren asks her.
Stella nods and follows Darren upstairs to her room.
"I don't trust Darren with a girl alone in his room. Especially if she's new here." I said.
"I agree, Tara." mom says, shaking her head.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When Stella left a couple hours later, Darren walked into my room and sat on my bed without knocking on my door.
"Care to knock first?" I asked him.
"No, I don't actually." he says.
"What do you want?" I asked.
"Just wanted to tell you that Stella's incredibly hot and nice. Should I ask her out?" he says.
"Darren, you've only known her for a day. Isn't it too fast?" I said.
"You're right but what if someone asks her out before I do?" he asks.
"Then, that's too bad." I said.
"You're really supportive, Tara." he says, sarcastically.
    "I know." I said with a smile.
"I'm gonna go for it tomorrow." he says, getting up from my bed.
"Whatever. I know she's going to reject you 'cause it's too soon." I said.
Darren just smiles and walks out of my room.
