The wave crashes down,
making much sound,
but I don't hear it,
even though I am near it.
I feel the water, dripping down my face,
it is then I know, I am not a disgrace.
They said it was over,
but I found my four-leaf clover.
I feel it coming,
the waves are coming.
I paddle out,
my family in doubt.
I feel the wave, it's coming to me.
I feel I must, let it be.
I see it then, the bump on that line,
I see it, it is ever-so fine.
I paddle faster!
I must get there faster!
Closer! Closer!
Coming to me!
It's right there now! I see!
I dive down under, the other waves,
I feel I'm in, another cave.
The wave is here, right with me,
I feel it take me, but I let it be.
Climbing,
Climbing!
Higher, and faster.
I snap my board!
Right across the wave!
I snap it again!
My life, it saves.
I go closer and closer,
to the ending line.
But, Oh!
I'm feeling fine!
They all rush in,
to greet me thin.
The scores are down,
the whistle has blown,
Now it is time,
for us to go home.
I didn't win, not legally,
but in my heart,
I feel more free.
This was inspired by the movie "soul Surfer", or, I guess more like, Bethany Hamilton.
