~Kelly Hope's POV~

Kenny and I finally reached the castle.

"That was a close one." I said, panting.

"Yeah."  He said as we both remembered the pirate boss' voice. "Next time when I tell you to not be reckless... PLEASE LISTEN TO ME!" He begged.

"Even when there are kids in trouble?"

"Well... Even then... But only if the adults aren't looking for them!" He insisted.

"Fine..." I snapped before muttering under my breath, "Not."

He groaned. "Kell..."

"Come on Kenny, we better warn the others of the pirates!" I reminded him, trying to make him forget about it.

~Pirate Boss' POV~

"I can't believe she stepped on my foot! Next time I'll carry her; it's safer for my poor feet..."

"She's not worth it boss." One of my minions said.

"She is!" I yelled at him, making him flinch. Just remembering her bright, fiery red locks made me even angrier. Such rare, exotic hair should be preserved!

She will be mine!

"Okay boss, whatever you say." He relented.

"Boss," The other said. "Maybe we should leave and come back later after a while... That way, when we come back, they wouldn't be prepared!"

Hmm... "Very well." I'll come back for you my exotic red-haired beauty, count my words...

~Kelly's POV~

"We won!" A guard notified us all. "They're leaving!"

Everybody burst into their own little victory celebrations.

"Wow, I can't believe they actually left... It doesn't make sense...!" I said.

"Well, I don't care as long as we're all safe!" Kenny said enthusiastically.

"Kenny, I think I should leave." I told him sadly.

"W-what?!" He sounded astonished at my words.

"I broke the rules, I can't stay." I reminded him, thinking of how they will throw me out if they ever found out. I must go on my own.

"But you didn't fight with a sword, did you?" He tried to convince me to stay.

"No... but I was thinking about it..." I mumbled.

"No one knows you can fight with a sword, so you don't have to go!" He said.

It wasn't only that I was afraid of people finding out; I also want to be accepted for who I am. I can't be accepted as a girl sword-fighter here. Besides, how hard could it be to live away from home? It will be an adventure!

"Okay, Kenny. I won't go yet..." I replied.

~The next day~

I did say yet...

Sorry Kenny, I must go.

I looked back at the town behind me; my old home. I was in the forest bordering it, looking back at the life I once had... It's so exciting, yet at the same time, it's scary. I need to find shelter somewhere in this forest - for tonight anyway. I'll decide what else to do later on when it comes up.

But first, I must pretend I'm a boy so that if I am found practicing, I won't get banished from the kingdom.
