Chapter 7:

As Sam and I ate, I couldn't help but think of what she said. 'I think you have depression.' The word 'depression' rang throughout my ears, causing my head to swirl. My mom developed depression when her and my dad got divorced, and I told myself I would never get it. But now look at me.

"Louis?" Sam's small voice called from across the table. My head snapped up to meet her in the eyes.

"Yes?" I asked, noticing the worried glint in her eyes.

"What's wrong?" She asked, a concern look falling over her features.

"Nothing," I quickly spoke, shoving my pizza in my mouth so I could say no more. Sam peered at me skeptically.

"Whatever you say," she mumbled before taking another large bite. I watched as she finished her pizza and wiped her mouth with her napkin.

"Finished?" I spoke, hoping her answer would be yes.

"Yep," she replied, popping the 'p.'

"Good," was all I said before I pushed away from the table. Sam followed behind me. I paid the bill quickly and then we left, hurriedly making our way to the store. Suddenly remembering about my punishment with Paul, and the boys helping me out, I quickened our pace.

"Louis! Why are you in such a rush?" Sam asked, picking up a slight jog to stay next to me.

"I'm not technically not supposed to be out with you right now. Paul is going to kill me if he finds out where I've been," I explained, giving her a forced smile. She gave me a concerned look.

"I don't want you getting in trouble because of me," she groaned, her bottom lip jutting out into an adorable pout.

"It was worth it," I smiled, coming to a stop in front of the bookstore.

"I had great fun today!" I exclaimed, turning to face Sam with a large smile on my face.

"I did too," Sam smiled.

"I'll see you tomorrow, okay? I have to get going," I said quickly, scanning the area around to me to make sure there were no paparazzi.

"Bye Louis," Sam said, giving me a wide smile. I placed a gentle kiss on her forehead before bidding her farewell.

I walked along the sidewalk, keeping my head down. The last thing I needed was a fan or pap to notice me. I walked quickly, coming across the hotel in no time. I slipped through the back door and made my way up the stairs. Finding the right floor, I opened the door to the hallway and look around me multiple times before deciding the coast was clear.

I made my way to my room, the smile on my face unable to leave. I slid into the room, finding the boys stationed around, doing nothing.

"Hey lads!" I called as I made my way further into the room. All heads whipped to me.

"Hey," they grumbled, turning to back to do whatever they were doing.

"How was your day? It must have been good because I haven't seen you smile like that in a long time," Liam noted as I slumped down next to him on my bed.

"It was brilliant," I agreed, the smile on my face growing larger at the thought of Sam.

"Clearly," Niall said, poking my cheek. Heat rose to my cheeks, causing chuckles to fall from Niall and Liam's lips.

"Will you be willing to help me out again tomorrow?" I asked hopefully. Niall and Liam exchanged looks.

"If we can see that smile of your's again? Most definitely."

**Sam's POV**

As I entered the shop, I immediately let out a squeal of delight. Today had been absolutely amazing. I smiled as I made my way to my corner. Pulling out my diary from its sacred place, I opened it to a new page and wrote down everything that happened today.

This diary literally held my life. I've written in it every day since my grandma passed. I write everything that happened in the day. Which books were sold, who came into the shop, what I had to eat, etc.

I hardly ever went back through and read through any of the other entries. They were my past, there's no need to bring them up again. Most of them held deep thoughts and emotions. All of my feelings and emotions were put into my writing.

Finishing my final sentence with a period, I closed the book and put it back in its special place. I pushed out of chair and made my way to the bedroom. As I undressed, I couldn't help but catch a glance of my reflection in the mirror. I stopped what I was doing and admired the smile on my face.

It has been a long time since I've smiled like that, and boy did I like it.
