Night Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep,

But I fear that I will make a peep.

I wish things would not go this way,

Because my life has gone astray.

It's a tightrope thinner than floss,

If I die, will it be a loss?

Death is waiting for my soul to reap,

So I pray the Lord my soul to keep.

It seems that things have gone wrong,

For this I have never longed.

Lies are the truth, and truth are lies,

I am not a baby who sits and cries,

I grew up fast and will always be wise.

So listen to me for my very sake,

If I should die before I wake.

Death is coming I know it's near,

Yet my body does not shake with fear.

One last breath as he walks in,

I knew this was a battle I could not win,

So now this story is at fin.

And as I accept my gruesome fate,

I pray the Lord my soul to take.
