*Let me know what you think about the Dragonclaw and Chizuru, k-be? *cute face**

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I fell to the ground, touching my forehead to the dirt. Opening my eyes, all I could see was his slippers, made of blue silk with black designs cascading towards the heel. I could feel his eyes pierce into me, scrutinizing my body in its plain brown cloak. With a snicker, he made his way around me, pausing in front of the guards, who were bent at the waist. Finally, he spoke, his voice velvety and slippery, much like a dragon's scales.

"Why were you about to execute this girl?"

I could hear the leader straightening himself, and he didn't seem very happy that the Dragonclaw interrupted his killing spree.

"My lord, she stole a loaf of bread from a shop-keeper's stand. Not only that, but she has stolen many things recently, from food to clothes." I could just imagine the smirk on his face as he reported my countless thieveries.

"She is wanted throughout this city, and today we finally managed to catch her. You can't expect us to let her go after the many crimes she has committed," Kyoya added.

           "Is this true?"

There was a moment of silence, but then I realized he was talking to me.

"Yes, my lord. But I have good-"

"Dragon Defense, go back to your positions. I'll take care of this girl."

          The Dragon Defense paused.

"Are you sure, my lord? We could easily dispose of her."

"I'm sure. Go back now." The Dragonclaw's eyes were smoldering.

The Dragon Defense took one look back, and then ran away like rabbits being chased by a bloodthirsty wolf. This left me and the Dragonclaw alone.

Minutes passed. Blood was rushing towards my face, but I kept still, waiting for some kind of acknowledgement from him. How long is he going to make me stay in this position?

           "What's your name, thief?"

Finally! I was beginning to think he completely forgot about me. Now that I think about it, him forgetting about me would be highly unlikely.

"Chizuru, my lord. If I may ask, can I please kneel?"

           The Dragonclaw snickered.

"Isn't that considered improper for your rank, Chizuru?"

           I know that!

But if you are going to keep me here all day, I have to move at some point! It would be impossible to stay still for much longer than this, even if I was a Dragon Defense guard, who trains day and night.

                "Please, my lord."

"Fine, you are allowed to kneel."

I rose gracefully to my knees, my back groaning in the process. These black-and-blue bruises are not going to go away soon, if ever.

After my movement, it was again silent. I waited......

              And waited.....

              And waited......

But he never spoke. My eyes were still downcast, but now I could see halfway up his silk-covered thigh, and it appeared as if he was just leaning up against the wall, thinking. Desperate to break the silence, I cleared my throat.

              I got no response.

              Ughhhhhhhh.

I tried again, only this time with words.

"Umm, my lord, when you get around to killing me, can you make-"

"Close your eyes." He interrupted me, his voice dark and brisk.

I hesitated, suddenly afraid of my impending death. No one would even know about it. I would die here, in this alley, and either the Dragonclaw would throw me in the trash, or leave me here for the terrified farmer to find me when he came to collect his fruits. And the farmer would tell no one in fear of people refusing to buy his soiled goods. I would die a nameless figure, and no one would notice, except for my siblings, who would starve to death waiting for me to come home to our shabby hut.

I guess I'm truly not ready die yet, am I? I mean, 18 years isn't very long to live.

The Dragonclaw's foot dug into my bruised knee, and I winced.

"Let me rephrase that. Close your eyes now."

I obeyed this time, closing my eyes slowly. I was actually, for the first time in my life, truly afraid of someone. The Dragonclaw isn't like the Dragon Defense. The Dragon Defense has to work in a unit to get something done. With the Dragonclaw, you can feel the waves of power vibrating beneath his pale skin, even from my distance.

You have a feeling in your gut telling you should avoid this person, no matter what cost.

Just my luck that I happen to be alone in an alley with him.

My hazel eyes finally shut, my body trembling in terror.

The last glimpse I saw was him pushing himself off the stone wall, and leaning towards my face.
