It was an uneventful journey back. I was slightly nervous as to how the others would react. It wasn’t as if we didn’t have room just that it had been me, my aunt, my cousin, Ethan, Steven (Ethan’s twin brother), Paul and Michelle (Ethan’s parents)  and then Evie, Loryn and Tegan. I was adding another three moody teenagers to the mix. Sadie would probably rub Evie and loryn’s prim and proper personalities up the wrong way. Evie and Loryn were the last remnants of my old school group. I’m not sure how I remained friends with them as I was more sensible and less boy crazy. I guess I kept them grounded. As for the boys Ethan, Steven and Tegan had only just stopped ripping each other’s hair out. Ethan and Steven from a wealthy family the opposite to Tegan's rough upbringing. I knew Pete wouldn’t be much of a problem. He was likable and unassuming. Nate’s arrogance was going to be a problem. Mellie, well Mellie would just be happy to have more people to dote on her. Everyone in the house had time for her. Her cute 5 year old understanding of the world. Honey coloured curls about a bright face with big doe eyes. A picture of cuteness. Auntie Kate wouldn’t mind but would fret about me putting myself in danger. Paul and Michelle would be less than delighted to have more teenagers about. All in all it wasn’t their decision. It’s mine and I’m the reason any of them has any security in the first place.

I took a breath as Pete pulled up beside the front of the house. “Everyone get out but stay behind me.” I said jumping out of the car. Everyone looked at me. “What?” they raised their eyebrows. “Ok fine. The others may not be too thrilled about the idea of new people but there is plenty of room and it’s my house.” Well technically it belonged to me but is legally under the care of my aunt but she wasn’t coping so well. “I only said stay behind me because some of the guys might go all macho which would be completely unnecessary.” Sadie laughed cautiously. The boys looked like they wanted to argue that they could look after themselves. The glare I sent them shut them up. “Let’s get this over with.” I said more to myself than anyone else. I opened the gate moving up the path to the house. I had only taken a few steps when the front door crashed open. I winced. How much more abuse could that door take?!

Ethan, Steven and Tegan came running towards me. Ethan and Steven reached me first both of them pulling me in for a hug. I sighed they were both a lot taller than me and stronger not much point in fighting.

“Don’t ever…” Ethan said.

“Do that…” Steven continued.

“Again.” They spoke the last word together.

“Ok that was just pure eerie!” they laughed giving me a quick peck on the top of my head. “You need to stop doing that! I swear it’s not normal. Not even for twins as amazing as you.” They laughed. I know twins are meant to be alike but they were ridiculous. They released me and Tegan scooped me up into a hug.

“You seriously need to stop doing that. You have no idea how much you worry everyone.” Tegan said. Tegan was the most quiet and reserved of everyone. Everything about him was reserved. He was handsome very much so but it was understated. Darker olive tone skin, enigmatic brown eyes and naturally neat dark hair. The fact he had come out with something so sincere and caring almost brought tears to my eyes. He wouldn’t say such a thing if it wasn’t true. I hugged him back fiercely.

I turned to see the twins in a standoff with Nate. As predicted they weren’t bothered by Pete. The twin’s blonde hair glinted gold in the sun and I watched their muscles clench under the thin fabric of their t-shirts. They were wearing the t-shirts I got them a few years back. They said ‘Twin 1’ and ‘Twin 2’ on the front and the opposite on the back. I could just imagine their grey eyes alight with energy to protect everyone. Nate bristled at the thought of a chance to fight. I for one didn’t get it. Must be something to do with the Y chromosome although Pete and Tegan seemed to lack that gene or at least be able to keep it in check. “Hey! Cool it!” I said stepping between them all. I shoved Nate backwards a bit. That seemed to snap him out of it. I turned on the twins shoving them to. They all looked at me. “Don’t look at me like that. There is plenty of room. Do I need to remind you that it’s my decision? They’ll have to follow the rules just like everybody else in this house and the same punishments apply if they break the rules.” That seemed to satisfy the twins. Nate, Pete and Sadie looked at me scared. “Don’t worry. The rules are just about contributing in to looking after the house and not causing trouble. The latter could get you kicked out. I’m sorry but if you cross the line I can’t interfere. I have others to worry about. I do my best but you need to help me by not trying to cause trouble.” That settled them a bit too but there was still tension in the air.
