Deuteronomy 31:8 “The lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Martha was rudely awoken by someone shaking her, it was Mrs. Peterson telling her she better wake up soon or they would be late for church. She was a bit scared about going to church for the first time, what if they didn’t like her.

She had a quick shower and grabbed the lotion that Mrs. Peterson had graciously given her the night before. She found a beautiful teal dress with swayed pumps waiting for her. When she put the dress on she found it was a perfect fit, it hugged her curves in all the right places.

She heard Mrs. Peterson calling her for breakfast so she quickly brushed her hair and put on a light shade of red lipstick. When got the kitchen she found Mrs. Peterson staring at her like she had seen a ghost or something “Sorry dear if I was staring too much, didn’t know how much of a beauty you really were.” , “ We need to by you more of those dresses, maybe we can find a decent husband.” She laughed so much that Martha couldn’t help but join her in her laughing. Though secretly she thought no one would want to marry her after they heard about her past. They quickly ate their breakfast, got in the car and headed straight for church.

When they got to church Mrs. Peterson assured her that everything would be fine, there weren’t many people when they got church, something she assumed Mrs. Peterson had planned so that she could meet people.

She introduced her to many people that were all friendly and welcoming. Maybe her friends at the brothel had been wrong about church. Some of them even gave her their numbers and invited them to their homes.

Church was started off with praise. The praise leader sang a song that had a really cool beat and that got everyone off their feet, everyone was rejoicing and dancing in the lords’ name. She couldn’t help but join in their craziness, it was contagious. She didn’t ever remember there being a time she was this happy. Mrs. Petersons dancing was the funniest thing ever, everyone around them was laughing heartily.

After praise, the worship leader came on and sang this song that was pulling at everyone’s heart strings. It had said something about Jesus being crucified and dying for our sins. “Let’s just worship the lord this morning, tell him whatever’s on your heart today, God is listening to you this morning saying what’s the matter child? Come to me and tell me everything, I am always ready to listen to you” he said. Martha just began to talk to the lord about everything and she could feel him nearby, she wept as she did so.

After worship they all sat down and the pastor encouraged them to say hello to everyone around them. Martha felt so happy that she started hugging everyone near her. The pastor then encouraged all the newcomers to visit the welcome center and began preaching about Gods love. She recognized his voice; he had been the man who had been preaching in the alley the evenings before.  She felt Gods love in this place everywhere she looked her friends had definately been wrong she thought to herself.

When church was ended she went to the welcome center and there he was, James. He hadn’t looked up at her so just sat down and waited for him to be through with the other newcomers. When it was her turn, he looked up at her and smiled, this made her feel uneasy, she didn’t like it when men smiled at her. He noticed this and went straight back to business. He got her information and the other things, made her feel welcome and handed her his number. Then she went go and look for Mrs. Peterson

This was the first time James had gotten a response like that from a woman. Most of the women smiled at him even before he did, some even tried to force themselves on him, sad but true. This woman intrigued him.  She looked very beautiful today he thought and he heard her laughing and smiling, so why did she feel uneasy around him. He secretly hoped she didn’t see him blushing at first of her, that’s why he pretended he had seen her.

Martha search frantically for Mrs. Peterson. She spotted her in the car park talking to a lady. This woman was too kind and too nice.

After church they went to several different stores to buy clothes and other essentials. Mrs. Peterson was having more fun than she was socializing with everyone and throwing clothes here and there. When they had finished shopping the sat down at a restaurant and ate.

This was one the best days of her life.
