Abbie's POV

I could hear him stumbling, coughing, crashing into things. I could hear him suffer. I could practically hear the energy and the life being sucked from him as he tried to find an exit from the train. He wasn't going to find one. I'd shut the only one, and i was glad i did. Luke looked at me as if i was a murderer, he looked disappointed in me, angry, confused. I didn't care.

"Ok, so are you gonna explain-" Luke began but i glared at him and he stopped mid sentence.

"Lets go." I gestured for us to get as far away from that train as possible. We walked side by side without a word, without a glance. My head was swimming with scenarios i've encountered since i put my signature on that paper in school. I can't take this anymore. A single gunshot echoed the forest and a tree stump inches from me was hit with a bullet. Luke and I looked around, i was looking for the person, he was looking for a way out. I cocked my gun and aimed it straight at the guy i could see in the trees, shooting once and watching his lifeless body fall from the tree. It didn't affect me. More gunshots began to fire and hit things around us, Luke jumped at me, pushing us both to the ground with such a force we rolled along and down a hillside i hadn't seen as it was so camouflaged in. We kept rolling, further than either of us thought we could down what looked like a small verge.

I woke up with the sun shining in my face. I squinted and turned my head away from the sun, blinking to adjust to the light. I sat up, rubbing my head. That hurt. Did i hit something when we were rolling? Looking across the peaceful, tranquil scenery of the forest, i couldn't help but feel i was still unconscious - there was no way a piece of this forest could look so luscious and lovely when a war is going on right here, right now! Admiring the scenery, i looked across to my left and across to my right to see- Oh shit. I stumbled as i jumped to my feet and ran over to Luke's body laying lifelessly on the floor 10 foot away.

"Luke?" I said as i fell to my knees beside him, shaking him and hitting him. "Shit! Luke?" I exclaimed, worriedly. "Come on, come on, come on!" I mumbled to myself as i tried everything i could possibly think of to wake him up... And he slowly stirred. He did what i had done when i first woke up; squinted and moved his head to the side, blinking quickly.

"Abbie?" He said, his voice hoarse.

"Yeah, i'm here!" I laughed hysterically, blinking away the tears in my eyes. "You alright?" A smile came across his face and i couldn't help but smile back.

"I'm good, just a little winded i think... You?"

"Yeah, good thanks. We seem to have landed in a tranquil part of the-" I should have learnt by now that i usually say things too soon. Without warning, a rocket flew overhead and landed metres away from us, blowing trees out of the ground and sending them flying. Luke grabbed my hand as he stood and practically pulled me out of the way of these trees as we began to run. We didn't know where we running, but we were running away from the rocket. This time we were side by side, looking at each other, watching out or each other - such a difference from when we left the train.

"Shit!" Luke exclaimed and yanked me behind a tree. "There are guys, keep quiet. Get on the floor." We both lay down on the floor, our breathing seeming like its too loud, as the recruits from the other army stroll past us, surveying the area. In my head i prayed we wouldn't get seen. Luke seemed ready to fight, i think he knew they would see us and knew he would have to fight them to protect us... To protect me. The look he gave me right before they saw us was a look of love and adoration, a look i had given Jonny at the beginning. The recruits spotted us and immediately Luke jumped up, knife in one hand and gun in the other, punching and kicking them to the floor before shooting them both in the head - a painless death. Another guy ran over, jumping onto Luke and pushing him to the floor, they fought for ages but Luke got the upper hand and as he got his gun ready the guy mumbled something to him. There was a hesitation before he shot that guy and walked over to me, his face twisted with emotion.
