13: Is it really all Okay?

"You two here for Mr. Benny?" A Doctor said holding a clipboard

Its been an hour since we've been sitting in the waiting room, No one would attend us.

"Uh.. Mr. John Benny?" I asked

"Yes m'am." He started flipping through papers on his clipboard "uh-huh, okay. Looks like Mr. Benny is going to be okay, but it could be fatal if he doesnt control his drinking level." The doctor explained

"Fatal How!?" Zaylee ask while Valerie was sleeping in her arms

"Well, its a kind of... Sickness I guess. He cant have red meat, pork, food with grease or fat, and especially alchohol."

"Woah." Was All I could manage to say

"Yea, If he does have these, well, like I said its pretty fatal. It is possible for it to be treated but it would be with vaccines." The doctor explained

"Great." Zaylee sarcastically groaned

"Its Okay Zay. We can do this." I comforted her.

"I'll leave you two now. Mr.Benny is ready for visitors, his room is J4." The doctor said as he walked away

"Thank you." Shoot. Now I feel bad, I dont even know his name.

"Mel, Is it really all okay?!" Zay asked

I didnt answer, because I couldnt. All I know is we have to do it together.

We walked down the hall, Zaylee still carrying sleeping Valerie.

J1....J2.....J3.....oh! J4!

We slowly turned the knob and heard the click, signifying that its open.

"Dad!" Zaylee gasped

He was.... Well he didnt look really comfortable.

He had tubes and machines around his arms and bed. He looked pale, he had no color in his face, he made white look dark.

Zaylee and I didnt know how to react, we stayed silent, only hearing the heart monitor beeping.

The slience was broken when Zaylee started sobbing.

"Zaylee. Its okay." I said as I embraced her into a hug along with Valerie who was still asleep in her arms

"I deserve this.." Zaylee quietly said

"What? Deserve what?"

"All this! A sick dad, No father to my Daughter! A deserve it all!" Zaylee said now at a high voice

"No. Zaylee, dont you dare say that!"

"I dont deserve you!!" Zaylee said while placing Valerie on a little couch. Zaylee plopped down beside Val and placed her face in her palms, sobbing

"Zaylee, Im not special, if anything, I dont deserve someone Like you. You are the strongest morst amazing person I ever met! Dont be so hard on you self!" I said as i embraced Zaylee in a hug one more time.

"No! See what I mean! I dont deserve you, I dont deserve someone so nice and someone who cares for me! I just Dont!" She yelled

"Why would you think that?!"

"Because I made a mistake!! Valerie is the best thing that ever happened to me, but...It was to early... It was a mistake I cant take back, I wasnt prepared!" She said sobbing on my shoulder

"You didnt know any better, your dad wasnt here to help you"

"Thank you."

"For what Zay?"

"For being here with me, helping me, caring for me.."

"Always!" I replied with a smile

Valerie woke up, and So did John and We had a little family talk.

John cant come home for 2 days..

Zaylee also was still struggling to see John in such harsh condition, I could tell some thing Was still bothering her... And I know what it is..

Shes gonna hate me for this.

I walked up to the counter and asked "Excuse me, Do you know how to find out who a biological father is for a baby?"
