CHAPTER NINETEEN

"IS THAT YOUR team?" Tanong ni Mandy ng ibaba nito ang two-way radio na hawak. Tumango ito at  humugot ng malalim na buntong hininga tsaka hinawakan ang noo at hinilot iyon.
"Yes that's my team, they said that they found our location through this two-way radio. And they will be here approximately within thirty minutes."

"T-That's good right?" Lumapit ito sa kaniya. "Let's finished our food let's go." Ginagap nito ang kamay niya nakaagad naman niyang tinugon. Bumalik sila sa pwesto nila at sinubukang ubusin ang sunog na isda. They're laughing and joking how the poor fish was tasted like a charcoal.

Pag-katapos kumain bumalik sila sa loob ng kweba para muling isuot ang mga damit nila. Iván take all the leaves and shell of the coconut and also burn it. Dinatnan nilang walang bakas ng tao ang lugar na iyon kaya iiwan din nilang wala anumang bakas nila.

Nang masigurong nasunog na lahat ng mga ito ay kumuha sila ng tubig dagat para patayin ang apoy. Sabay silang umupo sa buhanginan na nasa bukana ng kweba. Masyado na kasing masakit sa balat ang sikat ng araw.
Sumandal siya sa balikat nito, at ipinulupot naman nito ang braso sa bewang niya.

"It's so peaceful, I hope it always like this." Wika nito tsaka naramdaman niya ang pagdampi ng labi nito sa buhok niya. She smile at hinalikan mariing hinamplos ang kamay ng binata.
"Yes, it's so peaceful, quiet and so serene."
"Hmm... You know I always thought that if you didn't come here to Colombia will I ever be meeting you, in different circumstances?" Tanong nito. Saglit niya itong nilingon tsaka kumawala ang ngiti sa bibig.

"You know I'm not the one who supposed to be here in Colombia?"
"Really?" Puno ng kuryusidad na tanong nito. "Yes it's supposed to be my friend Raffy, she convinced me many times to replaced her. Her reason was she never been into medical mission and I always remember her twins says that Raffy will not last a day in this kind of place and environment." Natawa siya.
Tama talaga si Gabbie na baka kalalapag palang ng eroplano dito sa Colombia ay baka umuwi kaagad ito ng Pilipinas.

"Why is that?" Tanong ulet nito. "Because her patient are mostly VIP's"
"VIP's?" Kunot noo nitong tanong.
"Yes because her Dad inherited this Big Hospital and he has many friends and mostly of them are in high society status. And Raffy thinks that she have to give them a special treatment as the future Director of that hospital, she's responsible to attend their needs. She only treat VIP patient you know, she's very far from the friend we have in college."

"That's sounds absurd, as a doctor it's your responsibility to treat every patient weather it's poor and rich."

"I will use my power to help the sick to the best of my ability and judgement."
Wika niya stating one of the lines in the Hippocratic oath.

"Your right, it's one of the oath we take. It's just so sad that she's more on materialist side now."

"And how about you?" Tanong nito.

"I love treating patients specially those who can't afford a medication that everyone else should be receiving. And that's why I love doing a medical mission or charity events. We goes to those rural areas to give medicine and do a free check up specially to kids and elderly. You know it gives me a great joy whenever I saw those people smile and they really appreciate small charity for them."

Humigpit ang hawak nito sa kaniya at naramdaman niya na maka-ilang beses siya nitong hinalikan sa ulo niya.

"You are really an amazing woman Madeline, I should thank your friend for sending you here, Mi Madre. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't be able to meet you."

"Yeah..." Tumagilid siya para tinignan ang binata na titig na titig sa kaniya. "I want you to my friends if you go to the Philippines. I really want to see their faces if they find out that... I already have someone in my life." Matamis ang ngiti na ibibigay niya dito.
