"You're agony," He says wrapping his arms around me tighter, "Absolute agony, and I can't bring myself to pull away. I'd rather be riddled with thorns than be without you."

My heart is beating so hard I was worried the rest of the guests could hear it from the dining tables.

"You are my first and last thought to grace my day. And if I ever had something I prayed to God for, it would be to see you."

"He's answered your prayers frequently," I respond, a soft smile on my face.

"Yes," he gently lifts me in the air, "I've been fortunate." 

"More than fortunate," I tease, "You sure you haven't been making bargaining with the devil.

"If that's what it would take to have you, I'd bargain with anyone."
