Walking in the serene garden, I found myself lost in nature's beauty. Alone with no friends or family. Kazmir had been nice for the past few weeks. He would buy me lavish gifts and compliment me every single day. I felt like I had to pretend. I had to wither away and bend to his every request, or consequences would follow.

Anya had gone to school today, so I had no job or task to complete at the moment. After the night, he took me to dinner, and he allowed me to have a phone. He had brought it for me, and his contact number was the only number saved. At times, I would find myself tempted to call Kali and Nalani, but then I would worry that if they were free, I would draw them right back into this world. I wanted to be strong, hold my head up, and survive till the day I could set myself free. I had to start thinking strategically instead of emotionally. It meant I had to give up my smart mouth and say things that would please his ego.

I made a small knock on his door, waiting for him to signal that it was okay for me to enter.

"Come in," he ordered. How could everything this man said make him seem so superior and powerful? The tone he spoke in never showed sympathy; it only showed coldness and directness.

"Hi, my hair is getting a little hard for me to manage. Is it possible for you to get a black hairstylist to do some braids for me?" I asked softly and politely, hoping he would say yes. After the amount of time I had been here, I had to take off my weave as I was getting tired of it. As much as I love my natural hair, it is frustrating to wake up every morning to do it.

He paused for a second, scanning the work on his desk.

"Моя королева, of course I can, whatever you ask for you will receive."

"What will you do to thank me?" he questioned in a rhetorical tone.

He rose from his seat and began moving towards me. Nerves engulfed my entire body, and I hoped he wouldn't hurt me. At this moment, my body was shivering, and I could feel tears begin to form in my eyes.

"Why are you crying, принцесса, I won't hurt you, I would just like to take a look of that beautiful body of mine" he stated.

I began to look down at my feet hoping this moment would end soon. He lifted my head to his view and placed a soft kiss biting my lip. A small moan escaped from my mouth, and I wanted to disappear as I felt uncomfortable in this moment.

When he had stepped back, I rushed out of the room, heading back to the bedroom so I could get some sleep. Before I could even close my eyes, I could hear Anya's yelling voice echoing down the hallway. She entered the room and jumped on the bed. She gave me a long hug before she decided to make her request.

"Mommy, can we bake cookies today? My friend said that her mom lets her bake cookies with her. " She explained.

"Sure, let's go make them now." Even though I wanted to take a nap, I would feel bad if I said no, so I decided to do it.

We moved around in the kitchen. Baking as we listened to a Disney playlist. The room was filled with laughter and the sweet aroma of the treats. This moment made me feel genuinely happy, as I always wanted to experience having a daughter and being able to do these activities with her. It was the circumstances around us that made this small, pure bubble of pure happiness bittersweet.

The cookies had finished, and Anya excitedly wanted to take some for her dad. I didn't want to see him again, so I gave her the cookies to take as I cleaned up. While I cleaned up I heard the opening and shutting of what seemed to be the front door. I figured it was one of the guards so I ignored it, continuing the task I was doing. That was until I heard a familiar voice. I thought I was dreaming because there was no way that my hearing was working correctly. I peeked around the corner, hoping this moment was real, and there stood Kali. I was so excited to see her that I ran quickly, completely jumping into her arms. I held her tightly, kissing her all over her face as I began to sob. All the time that had passed became nonexistent, and I wanted to stay like this forever.

"Stand up before yuh mek mi fall dung" she said jokingly as she hugged me just as tight.

"Where you was I had miss you so much? Wha part Nalani at?"

"I haven't seen yall in months, How are you? How is Nalani?"

"Calm dung mi cyaa ansah whulla dem questions at once"

I took a breath, took her hand, and led her to the theatre, where we could sit and talk peacefully. I asked her where she had been these past 3 months. She had been getting to know Kazmir's brother, Igor, and she quit the club and started to work as his assistant. I told her I had been babysitting Anya, and that was pretty much it. I didn't want to tell her the truth about the past few months, as I knew she would do something stupid that would get her killed. Deep down, I knew she knew I was lying. We had known each other for enough time, and we were alike in the fact that our pride made us keep things to ourselves. I found out that Nalanni had been babysitting and getting to know Luciano. Seeing her made me regain hope, and in order for me to return to my old life, I had to play a tricky game of chess to check the king. I had to shut off parts of myself and completely create a facade until I could make my exit. Whatever it was, I wanted to make him hurt and understand that he fucked with the wrong one.
