I opened my eyes and looked at my phone. It's 11 at night and Justin is calling me.
"Who's that?" My wife, Jessica asked
"Justin. I think something's wrong. He never calls this late," I lied
Justin always calls me at night it's just this time, Jess was home and not working at the hospital.
The thing is Justin acts like a child. He's not a little bit he just acts like a baby. He had a tough childhood and no real family or friends.
But one day he came into the police station that I was in and wanted to get away from his abusive boyfriend.

"Donuts at a police station. How original," I said at my friend Xavier walking in
"I'm hungry and I know that y'all are too," he said
"I'm about ti head out on patrol," I said
"They should promote you already. You do better than these detectives anyway," Xavier said
I laughed at him and unplugged my phone from the outlet. Jessica texted me that she was working a double shift tonight. I was heading to the door when I seen this guy or should I say boy rush up to the door
"Can you help me sir?!" The boy asked in a hysterical voice
"What's wrong?" I asked
"The bad man hit me. He hit me a lot. Like every day," he said
From the looks of it he did look a mess. Like he was in a fight or something.
"What bad man? Your boyfriend? Dad?" I asked
"Boyfriend. He hurt me a lot," He said
I took him inside to the front desk. Xavier looked at the boy in confusion.
"His abusive boyfriend might be on the way," I said
Just as I said that, this man my height walks in. He had tattoos all on his neck and arms. He was very muscular and built like a football player. Obviously he could destroy the boy.
"Justin come home. I'm sorry for scaring you," he said
Justin got behind me and peaked his head out. I felt like I had to keep him safe not just from his boyfriend but from everything.
"Sir leave now and I won't arrest you," I said
"Officer this is between me and Justin," he said
He must want to get arrested.
I pulled my handcuffs out and the guy backed down. He looked at Justin and then just left.
Well that went well.
Justin got from behind me and smiled through the pain.
I was feeling something towards him. Something that I never felt with Jessica. His smile did something to me.
