chapter 5: The reason

The next day, during biology the teacher announced to us that we'd be embarking on a class trip to experience nature.
I was extremely excited and I hoped Ava would be my roommate because for the trip we all needed a roommate to spend the night. As I took a glance at Ava she immediately looked away.
During recess, I didn't see her at our lunch table or any other table so I looked around and found her in one of the empty classes.
Sophia: Hi Ava, it's me Sophia
Ava: what do you want
Sophia: I just wanted to apologize for what I did yesterday. I did not mean it. I thought you wanted me to play along that's why I did it
Ava: play along huh, you think I don't know you like my brother
Sophia: of course I like your brother but I never acted on those feelings
Ava: sure
Sophia: please come for lunch
Ava: I'm not hungry
Sophia: you might get hungry
Ava: I said I'm not hungry!!!!
She flunged her book at me but I quickly doged it before she could hit me.
Ava: and one more thing, stay out of my life
And she left.
I didn't bother following her, I just gave her space.
Later that Evening
I told my parents about the school and as luck would have it, my parents allowed me to go.

The next day
I got on the bus and the bus took off .
When I entered the bus, I looked for Ava but I couldn't find her.
All the seats were occupied except the one at the back.
"GREAT"
And of all the people who could be sitting there, why did it have to be Jace 😒
At first, it was awkward because Jace and I kissed like the other day at his house and secondly we were not really close but I broke it to him anyways.
Sophia: what of Ava?
Jace: Ava?
Sophia: yh Ava. I didn't see her in the bus, is she okay?
Jace: she's actually at home. She refused to come. Do you know why?
Sophia: well, we kind of fought the other day
Jace: why?
Sophia: because of what happened at the sleep over
Jace: what happened?
Sophia: it's because of the kiss we shared during the game. It made her upset.
Jace: but what's wrong with that?
Sophia: well she doesn't want me talking to you
Jace: that girl, she's really something. First it was Joanna and now it's you
Sophia: who's joanna ?
Jace: well Joanna was her very close friend.
They grew up together and shared everything with each other until I came along. At age 12, I found out I had a step sister which is Ava and when I met her, we became really good friends until I met Joanna
Sophia: what happened
Jace: well, Joanna and I grew really close and ava started feeling lonely. They grew distant and their friendship went down hill. She tried coming up with reasons why Joanna shouldn't talk to me and Joanna ended up telling me everything. She said "Ava was such a control freak and she doesn't like being controlled".
Sophia: so what happened to her
Jace: well, Joanna's dad got a new job in another city and they had to move
Sophia: oh no, that's sad
Jace: maybe that's why she's so controlling because she's afraid she'll get lonely
Sophia: I hope I get to talk to her, maybe work things out. She really needs me
Jace: yeah, she does.
