Seriously?

Is this legit?

Wow.

These were all things Sans wanted to say when he was told what would be happening.

Was Sans surprised?

No.

They had told him ahead of time, he was just taken aback by how quickly it happened.

He knew he'd end up somewhere in the foster system, but it all seemed a little more complex than he'd imagined.

It happened pretty fast, too; a week after waking up, he was being shipped off to his new residence. Keeping someone in the hospital was expensive, Sans knew that.

Still, he couldn't help but feel like there was more to it than what he was being told and part of him also wondered why they were so set on where he'd be going, why it mattered to them so much.

Sans didn't have anything to bring with him besides his scarf, which the hospital had cleaned and given back. The scarf was a vibrant red, no dust or blood remained on the freshly cleaned fabric. It wasn't crummy or covered in dirt from overuse, it was soft and clean. Sans buried his head into the fabric, humming a calm sigh.

It still smelt vaguely of Papyrus and his spaghetti.

It caused waves to crash against the shores of his mind, tugging at his heartstrings, creating a bittersweet melody only he could hear.

As Sans was led out of the hospital, he basked in the freshness of the early evening air as it blew softly through the parking lot.

It had a slight chill, one that weaved past him, grazing against his exposed skin and causing him to shiver. At the same time, the setting sun slipped its gaze past the horizon in one final attempt at keeping the world warm and lit.

Sans spotted the car he was being led to with a short glance. It was nothing special, but it was still enough for Sans' hands to itch with anticipation.

They didn't have cars in the underground, no point really since there wasn't enough room for roads and everything was within walking distance, either that or catch a ride with the River Person, but he'd always wanted the chance to pull one apart and sort through the engine.

He'd made his own engines plenty of times before, but he'd never gotten to drive an actual car. Sans knew he wouldn't be driving, but at least he'd be in the car.

He remembered many resets ago when his brother had fulfilled his dream, driving down the highway in a bright red car while Sans sped past him on his tricycle.

In those short snippets of a future he could've lived, he never had the time to truly dive into human technology.

He wasn't going to wait around and waste such an opportunity now.

He climbed into the passenger seat, eyes darting around to absorb everything. The details, no matter how small, fascinated him to a point. Obviously, some were far more interesting than others, but it was all still intriguing.

Sans forced himself to stop or at least slow down as the other man slipped into the driver's seat, schooling his expression to a simple, smiling, tired airiness.

The man started the car with a slight rumble, the sound was unexpected and loud, causing Sans to jump.

"Not in cars all that often, are you?" Aizawa asked, eyebrow raised and eyes holding a slight interest.

"you could say that." Sans chuckled lightly, Aizawa's eyes turned back to the road.

The car pulled out of the hospital parking area and out onto the road, Sans couldn't help but look at every little detail of the world blurring past him.
