MONSTERS, THAT WAS WHAT THEY WERE. Before the world became inhabited by hell's sickening creatures, only a handful of humanity had to face the challenge of trying to live till tomorrow.
After the dead started walking; everyone had to turn on each other to survive, kill, or be killed. That was the new way to live – to attempt to persevere God's punishment. He wanted them to suffer. And suffer they did, and suffer they will.
Murder was wrong, that was what fifteen-year-old Rylee Grimes thought, what the majority of the world thought – but now people's morals had to change, they had to adapt, Rylee had to adapt, so she did. Dark-red ichor had to be spilled to prevent her from suffering the same horrible fate that had befallen many others.
She believed the world wasn't doomed. Even when the dead started roaming the Earth, searching for the next person who would fall victim to their hands, she didn't lose her faith in the good. Somewhere out there was hope, igniting a small spark within her, giving her the comforting feeling that she could survive – that she wouldn't succumb to the dark grasp of death. She would resist its tempting offer of eternal peace and try to avoid sending anyone else to their demise.
She only had one terrible question; one that kept taunting her – whose blood had to stain her innocent hands?
A MONSTER was what she was afraid to turn into.
