Erik and I jumped to the ground, and just as planned there were no guards in sight. Erik motioned to me and we began to run towards the woods, but then hell broke loose. Guards swarmed out of the asylum and began shooting tranquilizing darts at us, one hit my arm, and three more hit my back as I pushed Erik towards the woods and we took off, I felt the dart taking its effect, but I shook my head clear, they were still after us. Then I began to stumbled around and trip, Erik turned around and picked me up, then we heard the guards crashing through the brush and Erik began to run. I was slowly falling asleep and I noticed Erik was getting tired and we couldn't hear the guards anymore, Erik set me down with a sigh and began trying to catch his breath. After ten minutes we heard shouts and Erik tried to pick me up again, I was close to passing out but I realized we both couldn't get out at this point, Erik by now had set me back down unable to carry me anym. "Shit." He whispered and I looked up at him and smiled. "Ya know only one of us is getting free." Erik looked at me and shook his head. "No, I'm not leaving you!" The shouts were coming closer, and I cupped Erik's face in my hand and I whispered to him. "If you love me let me go." Erik shook his head more and began to cry. "Curtis if I leave you they'll take you back, you'll be put in a jacket, or they might just kill you!" I wiped away his tears, my motions becoming sluggish as the drug kicked in. "I'll risk that my love, just run, at least one of us can get free." Erik sighed and gave in. "Ok, but I promise I'll get you out, then we will live that life we talked about." I nodded and Erik softly kissed me, it was a slow and bittersweet kiss, then a dart flew past Erik's ear. "Go." I whispered and Erik ran into the brush, then everything went black.
