As the chaos of Marcus's escape reverberated through the hospital, Emily's anger burned like wildfire. She couldn't believe he had managed to slip away once again, right under their noses. She paced the hospital room, her hands clenched into fists, her frustration palpable.

Erin watched her friend with concern, sensing the turmoil within her. "Emily, please calm down," Erin urged, her voice weak from the pain of her wound.

Emily turned to Erin, her eyes flashing with anger. "He was right here, Erin! They let him get away again!"

Erin reached out and grasped Emily's hand, her touch a grounding force. "I know it's infuriating, but we have to believe they'll catch him."

As Emily took a deep breath, she realized Erin was right. Losing her composure wouldn't help anyone, especially not Erin. She gave her friend a weak smile and nodded.

In the midst of her anger, Emily hadn't noticed the commotion in the hospital gradually quieting down. The news of Marcus's escape had spread like wildfire, and staff members were working tirelessly to restore order. Meanwhile, Marcus had managed to slip away from the hospital undetected, using the stolen officer's uniform to blend in.

In the nearby shopping plaza, he found an unattended vehicle and wasted no time in hotwiring it. He had originally planned to stay in the hospital, to finish what he had started with Emily, but he quickly decided to head back toward her home. He knew she would eventually return there once Erin was released from the hospital.

The hours passed as Marcus drove, eluding the police that were searching for him. He abandoned the stolen car about thirty minutes away from Emily's house and continued on foot, limping from the dog bite wound. Every step was agony, but his obsession with Emily fueled his determination.

As he reached her neighborhood, he saw her house in the distance. He peered through a neighbor's fence, relieved to see no police presence. Emily's parents had left in a hurry to be with her and Erin, and it seemed that the coast was clear. He slipped through a side gate and approached the open garage door of Emily's house.

Inside, he hunkered down and waited, his heart pounding with anticipation. He knew Emily would return eventually, and he was going to be there waiting for her.

Meanwhile, back at the hospital, the local police and Detective Jacobs were working tirelessly to locate Marcus. The news of a stolen car from a nearby shopping plaza had just come over the radio. They exchanged grim looks; they knew it was him. But with his ability to evade capture, they had no idea where to start looking.

Emily sat in the hospital room, her anxiety growing with each passing minute. She had hoped to hear news of Marcus's capture, but the updates never came. She clung to Erin's hand, her worry etched across her face.

"Detective Jacobs will find him," Erin reassured, though even she couldn't deny the unease in the air.

Hours stretched on, and Emily's impatience turned into a gnawing fear. She glanced at the clock on the wall, her heart racing. She knew she needed to be by Erin's side, but her thoughts were consumed by the looming threat of Marcus.

As the hours ticked by, Emily had no idea that Marcus was lurking in the shadows of her own home, waiting for the perfect moment to make his presence known. Her parents had left the garage door open in their haste, unknowingly providing him with an opportunity he would seize without hesitation.

Emily's focus remained on the hospital, unaware that her nightmare was about to take an even more chilling turn.
