There is a legend of a stagecoach pulled by four horses and driven by a faceless man hunched over as if dead or asleep that rolls through Carizzo Wash and heads off in the distance as if intending to stop at the stage Station.
Stories say that as he arrives at the now non existent station, he hesitates briefly and then continues onward as if deciding there is no one to stop for and disappears into the night.
According to locals, they have found evidence of his passing in the form of hoofprints and deep ruts as if from a heavy wagon wheel.
