girlhood was brief,
and with it came grief.
as the year gradually came to a finish,
my lustre had nearly been diminished.
with love i wrote my every epiphany,
my secrets, my tears, and adventures in misery.
i spent all these months, one short of thirteen,
weeping at each of my battlefield scenes.
but it's over, isn't it?
the great war in which i took so many hits.
the flood i drowned in
somehow washed me clean;
it hurt so bad but i wouldn't have had it any other way,
because i was still whole by the end of the day.
it's time for me to smile once more,
the sun has dawned, a new tide has crashed on the shore.
the fountain's run out of ink, the pages are filled,
with stories of how i loved, died, and lived.
as a new person, i've set my soul free.
it's time to go, but with you i'll always be.
thank you for the music, thank you for the words,
and for being with me as i conclude this oeuvre.
