love is patient and love is kind,

 i corinthians 13 must be kept in mind.

 love at first sight is not always what it seems —

 there are far greater achievements than dating the boy on the football team.

 beware the confusion between infatuation and love;

 for romanticization's lies hurt harder than a merciless shove.

 like a hammer and nail, love will not hit right at once

 it takes more than a night, a week, or even ten months.

 if you would claim to be a discerning observer, then why do you gag,

 when others warn and remind you of the ignored red flags?

 it is but an obsession for, not a legitimate devotion

 to a mere idealised version—

 of a beautiful face thought to be your person.

 there has never been and will never be a "right love, wrong time"

 for the right lover will always be the right one and only in every lifetime.

 so hush, my dear; for you know, in the end, when no one's around,

 all you ever wanted was to love, be loved, and feel safely sound.

 always keep in mind that God is true, longsuffering, genuine love; even when life is oh, so grim—

 do you even still remember all of those hymns?

 therefore wait with understanding, then love just like Him.

 save the magic of passion, its blessings and honest happiness;

 recognise the powers of misdirection that lust may possess—

 don't build the next generation with your premarital regrets.

 so be patient like love, just give it time,

 i promise one day you will find your perfect rhyme.
