On Cornelia's 10th birthday, her parents had arranged everything perfectly: the cake, the guests, the entertainment, and more, but Cornelia had felt a sense of unease all day.
She had a great time with her friends and family, playing party games and eating sweets, but the trouble started when she was opening her presents that evening.
"Wow! I love this dress! Thank you mum!"
The redhead grinned at her smiling parents who were sitting on the sofa with her. She bent down to put the ripped wrapping paper in the plastic rubbish bag, when it disappeared.
Cornelia looked in confusion at her hand, which had been holding the paper. Her parents looked equally shocked at what had happened. But what they didn't know was, Cornelia knew she was still holding the paper, but she just couldn't see it. The moment she dropped it, it came back into view.
"What on earth...?" Cornelia's mother said quietly, looking at her daughter in despair. Was her little girl really...one of them...
