Feral History

Man's nature is savage, stark,

Wild and feral since the Ark.

History tells us what has gone before:

Always someone, somewhere, waging war.

Why?, answers we may never know for sure.

Wars are fought for land, conquest,

Resources or political ideas,

A nation thinks it is the best,

Neighbouring states must live in fear.

Since first there was society

There has been no lasting peace.

There have been so many wars,

Have any been worth fighting for?

Have they been worth the loss and pain?

Pyrrhic, yet they occur again and again.

We have progressed so far technologically,

We claim to believe that we are free,

Just leading others to Democracy,

Yet we learn nothing from our feral history.
