Remembrance

It seems that all Nations have a Remembrance Day.

A day to remember the sacrifice of the fallen,

To pay tribute to those, who back in the day

Had their futures destroyed and stolen

Whilst in service of their country.

'Pro Patria Mori'

'Lest they be forgotton' : they say,

A minute's silence, room to pray

For those lost, damned souls.

As time goes by the list swells.

More wars have been fought,

More suffering wrought.

Remembrance is a fitting gesture but not enough.

Lessons must be learnt and changes made.

History must not be allowed to repeat itself.
