Kinawayan ako agad ni Mama para lumapit when Miss Terror greets them. Nagmano pa ha? Very papansin! Nagpapalaki ng papael!

"Pasensya na po. Natagalan ang meeting sa univ. Angdaming issues."

Oh, bakit pa siya titingin sa akin pagkasabi ng issues? What is she trying to say ba?

"Dapat pala e sinabihan ko na ang board na i-excuse ka sa meeting." Here goes Papa again! See how she favors this woman? Sobra naman! Bumaling siya sa akin. "Pasok muna tayo. Then let's talk about our lovely daughters."

Nauna na akong pumasok. Makakarinig pa rin naman ako ng sermon mamaya kaya uunahan ko na sila ng pagmamaldita ko. I could hear Papa apologizing to them. Well, I don't care! Hindi siya welcome sa buhay ko! Not now, not ever!

Festive dinner is served for us but here I am disgusted with the idea of marrying this woman!

"Rebecca, you and Freen should get to know each other."

"Kailangan pa ba 'yon, 'Pa? Nagdecide na kayong ipakasal kami 'di ba?" Walang emosyon kong sagot. "I think that is no use."

"She's right naman po." Wow ha? Sumang-ayon pa talaga siya. Tapos bait-baitan pa ng mukha? Anghusay kumuha ng simpatiya! "She's probably surprised to learn about this marriage. So am I. And I would to ask for a favor po."

"What is it, Hija?" tanong agad ni Papa. "Anything na kaya ng family namin. Gusto mo ba ng bahay at lupa para sa inyong dalawa?"

"Ho? No! Hindi po." Ilang beses siyang umiling and she waves her hands across each other. "I would like this marriage to be a secret. Not that I don't like the idea of woman marrying another woman po. But I think it would be better for both of us lalo nasa iisang university kami."

"Patricia? What can you say about it?"

"You dare to ask me now pero hindi niyo ako tinanong kung gusto kong magpakasal."

Nabalot ng kami ng katamihikan. Ever the Millers were surprised. That's right! Be disappointed para hindi na matuloy ang kalokohang 'to.

"Rebecca Patricia." May galit nang saway sa akin ni Papa. "May bisita tayo. Can you please be nice?"

"It's okay," says her Dad. "It's just normal. Our Freen here had the same reaction. But she showed up. Akala ko e ibo-boycot na niya itong dinner. Right, Freen?"

She nods and gazes at me. "We'll work this thing out, Becky."

Our parents were like teenagers na tuwang-tuwa pa sa sinabi niya. But I caught her smirking at me. Oh God! She's up to no good! I'm sure!

Nasa mini office sila. Inaaaya ako ni Papa pero nag-reason out na lang ako. Baka masagot-sagot ko pa ulit siya e. I'd rather be alone here sa garden. Mas magkakaroon pa ako ng peace of mind dito.

"Bakit hindi ka kasama sa pag-uusap nila?" Binigyan ako ni Yaya Flor ng isang baso ng gatas. "Oh, kanina pa kunot ang noo mo, Hija. Palamig ka muna. Maganda 'yan sa buto."

"Bakit pa? E nakaplano na ang lahat maiinis lang ako. I don't like that woman. She's nakakairita, Yaya! Sobra!"

Freen Sarocha Miller—23, professor at Dong Feng University under languages department, Performing Arts adviser, masungit, hindi nakakatuwang tumingin, at higit sa lahat hindi maka-appreciate ng halik ng isang Rebecca Patricia Armstrong!

"Kahit hindi niyo mahalin ang isa't-isa pwedeng-pwede naman kayong maging magkaibigan. 'Yon ang gusto rin ng mga parents mo."

"I have my friends. Nandiyan sina Jea at Yuki. I don't need another. Baka nga pera lang ang habol ng pamilya niya. Sinong tanga ang papayag sa arranged marriage? This is too traditional."
