age 10

the summer sun is beating down on calum. he's been standing on the corner of a dirt road for the past two hours and has had no luck in selling his peaches. his makeshift fruit stand consists of a large wooden crate filled with peaches stacked on top of another crate with a homemade sign in front of it. he smiles when he sees a boy about his age walking down the street.

"wanna buy some peaches?" he calls out, putting his toothy grin on display for the boy.

the boy walks over to calum's stand and smiles before pulling some change out of his pocket. he counts up the total amount of coins he has which add up to eighty-seven cents exactly. he overs calum the change and smiles.

calum happily takes the money from the boy and hands him one of the peaches.

"thanks!" calum says before placing the change in the mason jar that's sitting on his fruit stand.

"no problem," the boy replies.

he begins to walk away and calum frowns.

"what's your name?" he shouts out.

"it's ashton. ashton irwin."
