Hailey's POV

I was walking out of class with Zander as he talked, only half listening. We got to my locker and when I opened it, I noticed a folded piece of paper inside

"What's that?" Zander asked as I picked it up. "I'm not sure.." I said. I unfolded it, and read it over once. My eyes went wide, and I read it over a second time

"What?! What is it?!" Zander asked

I slowly handed over the letter to him, and he had a similar reaction. Once he read it to himself, he read it out loud

" 'Dear Hailey. After today's music club meeting, would you mind staying behind? There's something I wanna ask you❤️ Love, Jake❤️' ?!"

He looked up as I nodded slowly. Almost like a way of saying that yes, this was really happening

"HE'S GONNA ASK YOU OUT?!?!" he practically shouted, shocked. "SSHH, NOT SO LOUD....!!" I said quickly covering his mouth with my hands. "But yes, I am...!! Going out, I mean..!!"

"Who's going out with who?"

Both me and Zander jumped before turning around. We saw Milly standing there, wide eyed. I opened my mouth to explain, but before I could get a single word out, Zander spoke

"JAKE IS!! JAKE'S GONNA ASK HAILEY OUT!!"

"WHAT?!" Milly squealed. She dropped her stuff out of shock. I nodded excitedly, bouncing a bit

As Milly and I excitedly talked, I couldn't help but noticed Zander was still in a state of shock

"Are you okay, Zander?" I asked, turning to him. He hesitated before nodding slowly

"Hehe, you look shook." Milly giggled. Zander slowly shook his head no

Yep. In shock

No one's POV

"Oh god, what do I wear?!" Hailey said. "Something casual!" Milly said

"What?! No! I don't wanna go looking like a couch potato!" Hailey argued

"But what if he's into that style?!" Milly argued back

The bell rang, making both girls stop their back and forth clothing conversation

"Damnit! I gotta go, my teacher will give me an earful if I'm late again.." Milly sighed "See you guys later!"

Milly walked off, leaving Zander and Hailey making their way to class, just the two of them

"Hey, Zander?" Hailey said, making Zander look at her. "What?" he said

"Why were you so...quiet before?" Hailey asked "What, do you have a problem with me going out with Jake?"

"No no, not....necessarily..." Zander said. "Then what is it?" Hailey asked

"It's just.....ugh...." Zander sighed

"Just what?" Hailey said in response

"...I just....I don't want him to break your heart..." Zander said crossing his arms. "Zander, I'm sure everything will be fine..." Hailey said "Jake doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would be cruel...besides, did you see this note? He put hearts on it, and said 'Love, Jake'. If he was trying to break my heart or something, do you really think he would put 'Love' instead of 'From'?"
