"In a child's eyes, a mother is a goddess. She can be glorious or terrible, benevolent or filled with wrath, but she commands love either way. I am convinced that this is the greatest power in the universe."

― N.K. Jemisin, The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms

"No you embarrassed me in front of my clients.." he yelled...

"I-I just came to give you your lunch..."

"Didn't my secretary told you I was in a meeting?"

"If this happened next time... I'll throw you out of this house...UNDERSTOOD?" he added fisting my hair...

I whimpered...

"I asked something..."

He let go of my hair... I looked at my daughter, with tears running down my cheeks...

"I am sorry baby...I'll not come to your school again..."

"Mom I am not your baby...Call me Jazz..." she snapped and stormed out of the house...

I slid down on the floor...and leaned against the wall...

A sob escaped from my throat...
