The two raven-haired shinobi walked past the village gates with the same amount of silence as their entire trip back home. Kai was further ahead while Sasuke followed a few steps behind him, the two more than ready to get the mission over with.

Though it had been successful, which was to be expected from two talented shinobi, it, unfortunately, did not go off without a hitch. They had bumped heads many times and ended the mission with a short argument where they blamed one another for the mission taking longer than it should've been.

If Sasuke hadn't walked off, ignoring him even though he was captain, they would've argued longer and wasted even more time than they already had.

Now, as they headed toward the Hokage's office, all they wanted was to be rid of each other—which was why Kai continued walking ahead even after passing the turn toward their assigned destination.

"Where're you going?" Sasuke halted in front of the path heading to the Hokage Tower. "We have to report in with Kakashi first."

Kai took a few more steps before reluctantly coming to a stop, then after a short pause, Sasuke noticed his shoulders move from letting out a deep sigh.

"Here," Kai finally turned around and tossed him the scroll containing their mission report. "Give that to Lord Sixth. It's the least you could do after almost screwing up my mission."

"I always screwed up the mission?"

"You almost got my cover blown, yeah."

"Would you have preferred it if I left you for dead?"

"I was good on my own," Kai looked at him with the same amount of disapproval as those who wished he were dead. "There was no need for you to interfere."

Sasuke almost scoffed, glancing away as he knew it was the same pointless argument all over again.

"I'm heading over to the hospital," Kai watched the raven snap his gaze back over to him, his eyes not showing any type of emotion, yet narrowed the slightest bit. "Wouldn't want to keep Sakura waiting," he shrugged and then turned back around.

However, he was only able to make it a few steps before hearing Sasuke speak up from behind him, his words confident with complete certainty.

"Trust me, you aren't the one she's waiting on."

Kai continued forward without faltering. He wouldn't give him the satisfaction, wouldn't show him that his words got to him. He walked off as if he hadn't heard him, his jaw clenched as he knew the Uchiha was satisfied with his words alone.

[Konoha Hospital]

Maybe I should hide in the lab? Sakura contemplated to herself.

Tsunade was somewhere inside the hospital, surely waiting to bump into her former student in order to kick her out for working overtime again. Her only option was to lay low, and what better place to lay low than the lab located in the basement of the hospital? All she needed to do was find a way to get there without being caught. She had to focus. She couldn't afford any distract—

"What are you so upset about?"

Sakura immediately lifted her head to her office door, her face warming up in embarrassment. "Kai," she smiled. "I'm not upset. I was trying to think."

"I know," he chuckled and took a seat in front of her. "You always have this small frown on your face when you're too focused on something. It's cute."

His words made her face warm up even more, her cheeks tinting pink.
