Steve and Emmy sat in a separate room, trying to process what happened

"You knew...didn't you" Emmy said as she fiddled with her hands

"It's not like that...I was just—"

"You knew" Emmy said, before Steve could speak, they could hear the commotion from outside

They walked out to the living room to see what was going on

"The mind flayer" Dustin said

"The hell is that" Hopper asked, saying what both Steve and Emmy were thinking

"it's a monster from an unknown dimension, it's so ancient, that it doesn't even know it's true home, okay? it enslaves races of other dimensions by taking over their brains using they're highly developed psionic powers" Dustin explained

"Oh my god none of this is real, this is a kids game" Hopper said

"No, it's a manual and it's not for kids and unless you know something that we don't" Dustin said, pointing to Hopper, "This is the best metaphor—"

"Analogy" Lucas cut him off

"Analogy? That's what you're worried about—fine, analogy for understanding whatever the hell this is!"

"Okay so this mind flamer thing—" Nancy said but was cut off by Dustin

"Flayer, mind flayer" Dustin corrected

"What does it want?" She asked

"To conquer us, basically. It believes it's the master race"

"Uh—like the Germans?" Steve asked

Emmy furrowed her eyebrows at him

"Uh, the Nazis?" Dustin corrected once again

"Yeah..yeah uh, the Nazis" Steve said, making Emmy shake her head in disappointment

"Uh, if the Nazis were from another dimension, totally—uh, it views other races, like us, as inferior to itself" Dustin continued explaining

"It wants to spread, take over other dimensions" Mike said

"We are talking about the destruction of our world as we know it" Lucas said

"That's great, that's great, that's really great. Jesus" Steve said, walking away from the table to take a breath, he turned to see Emmy looking at him for a second, but looking away the second he looked at her back

"Wait a second" Emmy said, gaining everyone's attention as she thought, "If this thing is like a brain, that's controlling everything, then if we kill it..."

"We kill everything it controls" Mike said

"We win" Dustin said

"Theoretically" Lucas said

"Great do how do you kill this thing" Hopper said as he grabbed the manual, trying to read out any solutions, "Shoot it with fireballs or something?"

"No...no, no fireballs" Dustin explained to Hopper, "You summon an undead army, uh, because zombies, they don't have brains and the mind flayer likes brains"

Okay, now zombies don't make sense.

"Okay, what the hell are we doing here" Hopper said as he dropped the book on the table in frustration

"I thought we were waiting for your military backup" Dustin said

"We are!" Hopper said

"Even if they come how are we gonna stop this! You can't just shoot this with guns!" Mike said

"You don't know that! We don't know anything!" Hopper said

"We know it's already killed everybody in that lab!"

"And we know the monsters are gonna molt again!" Lucas said

"And we know that it's only a matter of time before those tunnels reach this town!" Dustin said

"They're right" Everyone turned to see Joyce standing there, she looked so tired. Anyone would be after witnessing what happened at the lab, "We have to kill it, I want to kill it"

Hopper walked up to her as she spoke, "Me too, me too, Joyce. Okay? But how do we do that? We don't exactly know what we're dealing with here"

"No, but he does" Mike said as he walked up to Will's unconscious body, "If anyone knows how to destroy this thing, it's Will, he's connected to it, he'll know it's weaknesses"

"I thought we couldn't trust him anymore" Max said as she stared at Will, "That he's a spy for the mind flayer now"

"Yeah but, he can't spy if he doesn't know where he is" Mike said
