"I thought you went to get Normani why aren't they here yet" I questioned Hugh once he came back

The look on his face gave me a pause because I knew that look all too well it was one of jealousy I knew because his father was sporting it that regretful day

I hoped it wasn't what I was thinking and at the same time I was hoping it was and I was anticipating

I didn't know if I was being wicked by looking forward to it for one I knew my son adored Alexandra as she did him but I do not see it as much of a foundation for them to get married upon

I have watched him and that surrogate girl Normani for a few days now and have seen that they had all the chemistry mixed in a jar ready to expload

Besides to me Alexandra still didn't seem like a person who's ready to settle forget all the career woman thingy. I was very certain Alexandra suggested this surrogacy thing in order to buy herself time for with a child already it'd keep my son occupied and happy for a while leaving her to focus on her career it was a selfish but smart move nonetheless

"Have you given her the gifts" I ask my son

"Yea mom I have"

"Plus the last"

"No that one I saved for last"

"Alright then good luck"I tell him with a wink

"Thanks mom" he replied with a grin on his face

Hugh came up behind me walking me down the hallway his hands placed securely on my eyes blocking me from seeing "where are we going" I ask

"To see your final gift" he replied casually

Soon I heard a door being shut and then I could see
I looked around to find myself in his study him standing in front of his desk obviously blocking something "come on what's the final gift" I say eager

"Happy birthday sweetheart" he says as he moves away from the table on it stood tall an exact replica of my vase I immediately rushed to it picking up just to confirm if it was real "oh my gosh"I gasped

"I begged mum to help me mend it although there are still a few cracks inside I guess from the shattered pieces that couldn't be repaired"Hugh says as the tears continually ran down my face

He did all this Alexandra all these for you but you've been nothing but selfish to him look at what happened today "oh my gosh" I say again trying frantically to rub off the tears not caring if it ruined my makeup this time as Hugh wraps me in his warm embrace "I love you" he says and I tried really tried but I just couldn't say it back and so I hugged him tighter my sobs coming out harder as I nodded

"Hmm hmm" this being my sad weak attempt at a reply as more hot tears ran down my face

"Shhh shh it's okay" Hugh soothed like he would do a child and I calmed like I always did every time he did that

This boy I had loved for years solid good sixteen years

A while after the party had died down and every single person left leaving only I,Hugh his mother and Normani. I laid in bed with my head rested atop Hugh's chest as his hands played with my hair a habit he'd picked up since we were kids. It was something he did frequently and I absolutely enjoyed it as it seemed to help ease all my worries
"So... he began pausing with his handwork on my hair "hmm hmm" I say urging him to continue
"I think it's time we start the proper planning for our wedding...it's just two months away and we haven't started putting things in place"he ended soon waiting for my response

"That is indeed true...but where do we start from as you know we are both very busy at work and with a wedding on the way we'd need to put in as much time and effort into it....." I replied pausing to turn and stare at his face in order to gauge his expression hoping he understood a bit of what I was implying

"I know that.... but what do you suggest we do"he said "because I was discussing with mum the other day and she said if the planning would be something we can't handle ourselves she would be willing to help out" he finished softly

He just had to involve his mother but it was cool as long as I have enough time to focus on my upcoming drama series which I was yet to discuss with Hugh then it would be cool so with that thought in mind I didn't hesitate when I said to him

"Alright fine.....it would be great to have a helping hand much more coming from mom"
