Chapter 8: Semi Finals Part 2

“Come on Guys. Let’s win this I have a date on Finals.” Malakas na sabi ni Andro.

Marami ang nakarinig lalong lalo na ang fans ni Andro. Nagtilian ang lahat while the other team smirked at them and said. “You’ll never get to the finals, Volkov.”

“That’s what you think.” Andro said bago pumuwesto na.

Masyadong naging dikit ang labanan sa pagitan ng dalawang kupunan. A few seconds before the game ends ay nakakalamang ng isang puntos ang kalaban as Andro sprained his left foot.

Kordell was watching everything with a baited breath. Alam niyang ang game na ito ay mahalaga para kay Andro and she prayed that they win.

Mas lalong kinabahan ito ng makitang masprain si Andro. But Andro didn’t seem to mind his foot. Nakatayo pa ito at nakipag-usap kay Travis.

“Travis ako bahala sa maliit. Ikaw bahala doon sa malaki.” Sabi ni Andro kay Travis as he took the opportunity to let his foot rest a bit.

“Mabilis yung maliit Andro I don’t think kakayanin ng paa mo ang habulin siya.” Nag-aalalang sabi ni Travis.

“I can manage. Besides mas mabilis pa rin ang kamay ko pagdating sa pag-agaw. Trust me I could handle him far better than the others.” Sagot ni Andro with a smirk. Nararamdaman niyang nawawala na ang sakit ng paa nya. Pero alam niyang panandalian lang ito. Once na igalaw niya uli ito ay mananakit lang uli ang paa niya.

“Fine but be careful.” Travis can’t help but agree. He just wished na kayanin ni Andro ang gagawin niya.

“Sure thing.”

Tumunog na uli ang bell and they have 45 seconds to shoot the ball. Nasa kalaban ang bola. They saw that Andro was currently looking after the fastest of their team. They smirk. Alam nilang may sprain na ito kaya hindi kaagad ito makakagalaw.

Andro on the other hand looked at Travis and Lyndon. They saw the meaning of the stare at agad na pumuwesto sa kalaban nila. Once na wala na ang bola sa team captain ng kalaban alam na nila ang gagawin.

The one thing that the enemy didn’t expected was the fact that Andro’s arms were faster than their team mate. Ipinasa nila ang bola sa kateam mate nila na siyang binabantayan ni Andro. Andro quickly repositioned himself to get the ball. With a bit effort his plan worked. Agad niyang binato ang bola kay Travis bago tumakbo ito at ibinigay kay Lyndon whom shot it at the 3 point marker. What they didn’t expect was another member of the team was there to get the ball and passed it back to the others.

Buti na lang at nakita agad ito ni Andro kaya hindi siya kaagad umalis sa kanyang puwesto. He tried his best to stop the other team from shooting but once again shot another, tie nanaman ang kakalabasan kung hindi nila ito mashoshoot ng isa pang beses. Agad na kumilos si Andro, and never would anyone thought of the sprain he had sa bilis ng takbo niya. Agad niya itong pinasa kay Lyndon ngunit biglang tatlo ang nagbabantay dito. Agad niyang binalik ang bola kay Andro ngunit nabantayan din ito ng kalaban. Hindi makashoot si Andro dahil malaki ang nagbabantay sa kanya at maling apak lang ay mapupuruhan ang paa niya. So he looked at the time 10 seconds before the time is up.

Damn it. I need to do something. Andro thought to himself. He then looked at Travis who gained the upper hand. He immediately passed the ball.

Travis shot it at 3 point mark and everyone waited. They could feel they breath stopped as they looked at the ball.

As the ball shoots in the basket, Andro’s foot acted up.

Everyone cheered for the Green Hawks as they won the semi-finals. No one saw Andro’s foot gave away. Natumba ito with a grunt.

The guy who guards him , offered him a hand with a smile.

“Great game.” The guy said as he helped Andro seat to their bench.

Andro, despite the pain, gave him a thumbs up.

“Thanks pare.” Sabi ni Travis habang tinatapik ang player bago pumunta sa tabi ni Andro. Tinanggal nito ang sapatos at tiningnan ang paa ni Andro.

“You’re good. Ipahinga mo lang to, Andro and no more running around. Finals would be held 2 weeks from now.” Naiinis na sabi ni Travis as he look at Andro’s foot. Medyo namamaga na ito dahil pinilit itong ilakad.

“Yes Doc.” Ngiting ngiting sabi ni Andro. Travis gave him a glare before turning his foot in a painful way. “Fuck! Travis…. Aray sorry na!”

“Remember this Andro. Hindi lang ito matitikman mo kapag hindi mo ako sinunod.” Travis said in an almost threatening way. Everyone in their group gulp.

Travis’ a med student he’s taking it far too seriously for their opinion. He looks after everyone’s health inside the team and if one of them gets injured they surely got this kind of warning from Travis.

Dinala ni Lyndon si Andro sa kotse nito with a promise to Travis that he will be driving.

Habang nasa biyahe ay biglang naalala ni Andro si Kiel. He remembered that she was watching the whole game.

He immediately got his phone which is full of messages. Nagtatanong si Kiel kung okay lang ba ito. He was about to reply ng sumingit si Lyndon.

“Why not call her?” tanong ni Lyndon with an innocent smile. Hindi ito napansin ni Andro kaya sinunod niya ang bestfriend niya. Napailing na lang si Lyndon kahit kailan talaga uto-uto si Andro sa isip isip nito.

Andro did call Kiel. At first it was Kiel asking how Andro was. Though he could hear the  teasing voices of her friends from the other side, telling her that she should go and look after him.

Napapansin naman ni Andro na parang nakukumbinsi nila ito dahil hindi siya sumasagot sa mga tanong. So he immediately told her that he was fine and a little pain could be dealt with a bit rest at pinaalalahanan din niya ito tungkol sa deal nila. After that they talked more about some things and before Kiel said goodbye, she told him to rest and do not practice.

Andro can’t help the smile that formed in his face as he said yes.

Lyndon looked at his best friend to see how much this Kiel girl affected him. It was like a déjà vu. Nangyayari nanaman ang nangyari noon. Napapailing na lang siya. Wala naman siyang magagawa pero sana ……

“What?” tanong ni Andro with a frown nang makita ang mapait na ngiti ni Lyndon.

“Wala, Andro. So done talking to her?” sagot lang ni Lyndon at agad na iniba ang usapan.

“Yeah…… Wait! You set that up didn’t you!?” tanong ni Andro with a suspicious look on his face.

Tumawa lang si Lyndon sa habang nagdrive na. wala namang magawa si Andro kundi tingnan ito ng masama.
