[At Ponyville Police Department, Flash was sitting in a chair and he was staring at the phone machine with a terror expression, in the dark. At Rainbow's house she was looking around in the darkness using her phone as a flashlight until she got a call from Flash and answered it.]

Rainbow Dash: Hey, Flash.

Flash: Hi, Rainbow. Flash here. [Chuckling nervously] What is going on?

Rainbow Dash: [Flick the lights a couple of times but there is no light] Man, I think the power's out.

Flash: Well, no kidding! The lights are out. The whole town is freaking out. What should I do?

Rainbow Dash: Okay, calm down. Just call Twilight and see if she can do anything about the power out. [Notices something blue glowing in the dark on the counter next to a bowl] Hey, Flash. I'm going to have to call you back. Something's up.

[Rainbow hung up her phone and walked towards the light. She moved the bowl aside and sess that it was Sonic's quill that was glowing blue. She picks it up and looks at it up close as it was crackling with electricity.]

Navy Chief of Staff: Well, our first instinct was it was an EMP. But electromagnetic pulses don't have that kind of power.

Air Force Chief of Staff: NASA has ruled out meteor strikes or solar flares.

Secretary of Homeland Security: The Department of Energy says it's not a power plant malfunction.

Commander Walters: Well, sounds like we're really good at figuring out what it wasn't.

Army Chief of Staff: This could be a prelude to a larger attack. I'm suggesting we scramble the Fifth and Sixth Regiments--
