2. He's Like A High School Girl Gone Undercover To Ruin My Life

"Lacy, get your ass out here!" Jace yells through my locked bedroom door. After my embarrassing outburst, Faye and Dan just left giggling while Jace just continued to stare at me in shock.

Fun, right?

Groaning, I give up and throw my pile of blouses down on the bed. Does he have to interrupt unpacking time? I was on a roll. Key word: was.

"What in the bloody hell do you want now Mr. Prick?" I grumble, plopping down on the sofa next to the armchair he's sitting on. Once again, amazement strikes me when I realize how amazingly soft the chairs are and how pretty the decor in the penthouse is. Ugh, stop, Lacy, you're mentally boosting his ego.

"Well, if you're going to be living here, there's a few rules we have to go over," he smirks, leaning closer to me. I scrunch up my nose and wave my hand, gesturing him to continue. "One, just because we're roommates does not mean we will discuss," he makes a sour face, "feelings."

"Amen to that," I nod, "feelings are useless, disturbing, and highly cliche. We will avoid that." Jace looks surprised, as if expecting a different answer. "What?" I ask, eyes widening.

He shakes his head and chuckles softly.

"Are you trying to classify me as a stereotypical girl?" I roll my eyes, disgusted. "Did Faye and Dan tell you anything about me?"

"No, except for the fact that you're weird and oh," he smirks, looking at me right in the eye, "that you're only nineteen and a virgin everything."

"What?" I scream, standing up. "They told you about my- me? What else did they say?"

"Nothing extreme," his smirk telling me otherwise.

"That's it, Faye and Dan, you are so, so dead," I start, ready to storm out of our part of the penthouse and break down the door on the opposite side.

"Oh calm down," he laughs, "I know about how strict your parents are and how they don't let you do anything. My parents were like that too. You just have to be ready to defy them, that's all."

At the sound of the word "parents", my face drops. After the stunt I pulled leaving home, they probably disowned me.

Jace seems to notice the sudden mood change and clears his throat. "That will help us avoid the whole falling in love part. Alright?" I nod, all humor gone.

"The second rule, you are never allowed to go into my room. Never."

"Why?" I whine, pouting.

"Number three," he continues, ignoring me. "Don't talk to me, we're not friends. We will go about our lives ignoring each other. Oh, and here is the list of your money input stuff. We have a maid so that makes everything except for cooking and washing dishes out of the cursed chores list. Plus, never lock the doors unless you're in here alone. Dan and Faye like to pop in a lot." he hands me the stapled sheets and gets up, walking away to his room. "By the way, you're making dinner tonight, you're welcome." he turns to look back at me and smirks.

"Worst gay best friend ever," I mumble, glaring at his retreating back.

"Here's the situation, been to every nation, nobody's ever made me feel the way that you do. You know my motivation, given my reputation. Please excuse me, I don't mean to be rude," I sing loudly, dancing to the beat in my head while flipping the pancakes I was making for dinner.
