Chapter 14: The Approval

"Amazing as always," I said as I handed Keaton his water bottle. He smiled and

hugged me quickly before Simon came back and I had to disappear. Finally, Keaton

was done and we could go back to my house. I was so excited about tonight. I

knew my grandma would love him and see that I'm not who I used to be. When we

got to the house I could see that Keaton was still disturbed about the wall. It

had to come out sooner or later. Maybe tonight. My grandma stood in the kitchen

looking Keaton over before finally accepting his hand. She smiled and so did I.

The dinner went over pretty well. My grandma laughed a lot as Keaton told

stories about his childhood and such. Of course my grandma brought out the baby

pictures and told embarassing stories. I loved hearing her tell these stories

that I couldn't remember from my childhood. My eyes glistened and so did hers,

but we both smiled. Keaton rubbed my back as he saw the tears in my eyes.  Soon,

it was time for him to get back to the mansion.  While he started the car, I

helped my grandma inside. "You hooked a good one Ali." I was so happy. I hugged

my grandma and felt the tears stream down. It meant so much that she approved. I

wanted her to know that I could do something right. When I pulled back I

realized this was the first time in a long time that I hugged my grandma. How

did it get this bad? "Thank you Grandma," I whispered as I kissed her. Of course

this turned into a crying party. "I've always loved you Ali," she said. "I love

you to Grandma." "Your mom and dad loved you too." I said nothing. "I hope that

Keaton can show you how to love and be happy again." "He already has," I smiled.

Just before I left, I turned back and said, "Grandma, I always loved you and I'm

sorry for everything. I'm genuinely sorry and I wish I could make all this up to

you, but there is no way to repay you for all you've done and put up with. You

taught me to fend for myself though and to be strong. 2 weeks ago I never would

have said all of this or even say what's coming next. I want you to know that

Keaton did all this and that your my rock. I love you." My grandma cried but

patted me on the back and told me  to go have fun and that she was sorry

too. When I got outside Keaton was in the most perfect pose ever. He was leaned

up against the car, waiting for me. "Well," he said. I ran into his outstretched

arms and he picked me up, spinning me all around. "She loved you!" I yelled to

pretty much the whole entire world. We kissed passionately and as I got into the

car, I saw good old Grams watching from the window, smiling.
