“it feel so weird that kids from the party are here you know?” catherine says

“yeah. honestly same. i mean, i know its a small world and we all live in the same city but i was honestly expecting to never see any of them again. and i guess we were basically doomed to run into some of them at some point but they wer at THE party. so i dont exactly have good feeling about it” carci says

“plu now we know Mallory can summon her aura” catherine says

“not to mention the fact that we now know Mallory can summon her aura” carci repeats

They looked at Mallory who was ahead of them. they both had a mutual feeling that something was off which only made the feeling of dread worsen, while also relieved them both immensely that it wasn't just them. carci played through the day thinking it through. there had always been a counselor keeping an eye on them, which, although was their job they seemed to keep a particularly careful well kept eye on them especially. maybe she was just being paranoid, trying to make something from nothing simply because she wanted some sort of excitement for the summer but Catherine felt the same so then again she wasn't being paranoid?

catherine had said something to carci once about the fact that when something feels off and could be easily dismissed as nothing it was most likely something. carci’s hand went to her neck brushing the scar there a little anxiously. now that she was thinking about it the way the counselor that had come to get the twin’s reaction to them being where they were seemed far more worried for himself than them. she couldn't explain why but the way he said that they couldn't afford them getting hurt or dying didn't feel like concern for them.

she bit her lip. she found herself suddenly going through scenarios that could trigger that sort of response. none of them looked particularly good for them. Carci had been so wrapped up in her own thoughts she hadn't even noticed that the usual quiet whispering of thoughts had ceased until they stopped in front of the cabin. Carci frowned and checked her bracelet and the beed hasn't moved. it was still in the middle of the two knots which made her frown deepen.

“its silent” she mutters

“what?” catherine asks

“it’s completely- ah fuck!” carci says

there were suddenly far more whispers than there were people around. the whispers were intense as if they were right next to her. she checked her bracelet again and still nothing had changed. she looked around. no one was around except her, catherine and Mallory.

“what the fuck?” she says

“that cant be right”

“What’s wrong?” Mallory asks

Carci and Catherine looked at each other. Catherine got the memo.

“either i'm hearing ghosts or we’re not alone”  carci says

“what does that mean?” Mallory asks

catherine put a finger to her lips silently shushing her

“what-”

“it means shut up” carci hisses

Mallory frowns but stops talking. Carci’s heart beat loudly against her chest fear of what she was hearing. she didn't hear anything that would mean anyone was actually around. there were just panicked sounding thoughts. one particular one stood out to her. It sounded like it belonged to a teenage girl. the thoughts were simple. “run”. it sounded like it was right in her ear. her shoulder jerked

“or i’m going insane” carci says

“ok anything good?”

“uh, no. just ominous crap like “you’re not safe” or “run” and shit. it’s probably nothing though” carci says

catherine made a face and carci shrugged, not sure what else to say in front of Mallory. catherine simply nods. they face the cabin. it was burnt and rickety with warped wood and uneven steps. the windows were broken and blackened. the cabin was mostly intact but had holes on the wall and dec. parts of the railing was broken. moss and plants grew up the walls and a rat ran out of it to top it all off.

“you know… maybe we just dont?” Mallory says

“why scared?” Carci asks

“i- no i don't tetanus” Mallory says a little embarrassed

“sure~” catherine says

the steps creaked under Carci’s weight making her a little nervous about it breaking but curiosity got the best of her and she continued anyway. Catherien followed behind her and Mallory was hesitant to follow. Carci pushed the door lightly and it groaned as the door opened

“you know, a ghost seems like a viable option”
