The rest of the world still in a slumber,
She snuggles against his strong, careful arms
Like a newborn hungry for love and warmth.
He wraps his arms around her, half-asleep,
Listens to her heart humming his sweet name
He stirs and watches her sleeping figure,
Her peaceful face against the rays of dawn
Noon comes around, floating over the sky
With the summer sun watchfully gazing;
The clouds start to part ever so slightly,
Just like her lips when he starts to lean in
She blinks back at the continuous sun,
Just like her eyes blinking back at his own
As he skims over her lips lovingly
Outside, they hug each other in their warmth
Smugly tucked in their own forest of leaves
And balding trees, and the thinning daylight
Reflecting shades of red, orange and brown
He encloses a gloved hand over hers,
Closes his eyes as their shadows engulfed
Them in a cascading array; sunset
The ribbons of darkness wrap them two up
Like last-minute gifts, they hold each other
With his arm snaked around her slender waist
And her head gracefully on his shoulder
They’re surrounded in a Christmas snow globe,
In unwrapped presents and chocolate powder
Watching the evening pass by with the breeze
