Chapter 2:
(A month later...)
It had been a month since the incident. My mum was in hospital for 2 weeks and it took another 3 weeks before she fully recovered. During that time, I was home-schooled by one of my aunties, who glady volunteered to help me keep up with my studies. But now that my mum was able to live a normal life, it was compulsory for me to attend a proper school. Instead of going to my old high school (I had to avoid all questions about 'wagging school for a whole month.')
I chose to go to a school called Westwood Heights High School. This school wasn't like any other public school. Drugs, alcohol and cigarettes were prohibited and touching the opposite sex would give you a detention. Mum was quite pleased with my choice and that's all that matters. When she got out of hospital, my mum became a little more protective of me. She definitely emphasised to put school before relationships, and I respected that. I did skip grade 7 so I knew what it was like to study hard. But this was my last year in high school, and I knew all my exams and tests would count towards my end result. Talk about stressful!
Today was my first day at my new school. As I glanced at myself in the mirror, I made sure everything looked alright. I didn't want to come to school looking like a mess. My uniform was a white blouse and a grey skirt, which was a respectable length. I put a considerable amount of mascara on, not that I needed it. You could say that I was naturally good-looking. My brown hair flowed past my shoulders in wavy curls, my skin was lightly tanned, my gleaming green eyes that never looked dull. Some people say that I had my father's eyes, since my mum's were blue, but I can't confirm it 100% since I never saw his eyes.
"Ok Casey! Time to go now!" I heard my mum shout from downstairs. "Coming!" I shouted back, whilst grabbing my school bag that weighed a ton. As I rushed into the car, my mum reminded me about her rules. "Remember when a guy tries anything on you..." I tuned out halfway through. It's not like I'm not going follow them, but it feels like my life is controlled by rules. I sighed and gave my mum a little peck on her cheek. "Bye mum!" I said as I walked through the front gate. Alrighty! Here I come.
