19• The Last Coin💰

Once upon a time long ago
A wealthy merchant was managing,
All the wealth he had collected
From his lands to his gold rings.

He was a greedy selfish man who was always behind earning a little more,
His desires never ended to let him
Enjoy the world that he ignores.

But once he saw a man playing
With his little daughter all day,
In his small farm near his tiny hut
He was free in his life to play.

The merchant was curious about
How that poor man can enjoy,
The things in life that he can't
With nothing special but some toys.

The merchant told his curiosity
To a clever and wise friend,
He was astonished to hear the case
In a surprise, his eyebrows bend.

The very next morning both the men
Went to the young man's house,
He was still found to be enjoying
With his daughter and his spouse.

The friend smiled in realisation
And decided to start a game,
To hide some pure gold coins
In the farm of the man was their aim.

They did so and when the man
Was ploughing his small farm's land
He found those gold coins lying
Scattered on the black sand.

He quickly collected all of them
And sat to count them on his bed,
He was amazed to see they were
Just one less than a hundred.

He knew it can't be this much
They are supposed to be one more,
He started digging more soil
One more he'll find he was sure.

His daughter came and
Asked for a horse ride on his back,
But the father refused to grant it
He was ploughing the soil black.

He kept on Digging and didn't eat
Till the night fell all around,
He was still uneasy and restless
Like this, he was never found.

The next day instead of enjoying
The morning he went straight,
Towards the place where he got
The rest of the coins so great.

He searched everywhere but in vain
He was left in deep grief,
It can't be just one less than a hundred
About this, he was thinking in brief.

He left playing with his daughter
And stopped enjoying the small things,
By the worries of the last gold coin
This is what wealth brings.

The merchant with his friend
Visited the completely changed man,
They told him the story of the coins
And that it was just their plan.

The merchant realised that the money
Brings the desire to have more,
And that will lead to unhappiness
Then small things of life you'll ignore.

The man was ashamed to know
How he fell for that dirty gold,
The merchant gave him the last coin
And asked for a favour that he told.

"Be happy with life as you used to do
And don't desire these anymore,
This will destroy the peace of your life
By just being one less or four."

The wise friend was too happy
To see that the selfish merchant,
Have now got the lesson of life
Indeed he was a true friend.

So remember this forever now
That more will not bring comfort,
Greed only continues till infinity
And at last, it will only hurt.
