"If you talk, they might lessen the punishment." Jaranya sat on Yerein's jail bed while Yerein stood nearer to the fence of jail, holding the iron bar in a tight grip, trying to decipher how her life with just the simple ticktock of the clock turned into a nightmare.

Yerein tried to calm herself and slowly looked at her best friend"You betrayed me Jaranya" she half whispered and half shouted while making her eyes big enough to see clearly the traitor beside her, she observed the appearance of her best friend, she was beautiful on her military uniform. She wondered what was lacking in her that led her to commit this evil act. A great body, a beautiful face, and a smart mind, but despite having everything, she still felt that she didn't possess it all. She still needed to play with others' lives. Yerein answered her question. Yes, Jaranya was lacking something, she didn't possess a heart.

"It's not me who betrayed you, Yerein, your God betrayed you." Jaranya looked up and met Yerein's eyes; she saw the eyes full of sorrow but with her hijab still intact. She couldn't avoid thinking why this woman still acted like a normal Muslimah when her world was already turning upside down. Sometimes she questioned where Yerein's strong faith came from. She questioned why this woman was happy and content with her mundane life, why she was satisfied with her loveless world.

She was never valued, but she continued to give and give, and sometimes she asked herself if there was a time that this woman felt empty or half because she always gave her whole. If she hadn't given her full trust, she would not be in this crazy situation right now. But when people were blinded by kindness, they would start to become fools.

"Don't say what you don't understand." Yerein talked to her as if she were talking to a bad person. A bad Muslim? Could a Muslim become bad? Yes, because they were human too, they were susceptible to bad deeds. They have the free will to obey or disobey. They have the free will to disobey Allah, but on their own expense.

Allah gave humans the free will to disobey to test him on how he would use this power. Would he use it to disobey the shaitan? Or would he use it to disobey Allah? That's how free will was given to humans, the free will to do good deeds, and the free will to do bad deeds. However, bad deeds could be purified by sincere repentance.

How could a Muslim succumb to an evil act? They would commit the evil act if they began to disregard Islamic teachings. Why do Muslims need to embrace the teachings of Islam? Because Islam could make the Muslim good, and a Muslim firmly believed that everything would be wrong if the intention was not pure and not for the sake of Allah.

"I have no plan to understand your God." Jarannya was a Muslim by name, but her heart was a different story. She was a Muslim, but she didn't embrace the practice of Islam. She was a Muslim, though she pretended she prayed, though she didn't wear hijab. There were many teachings of Islam that she didn't do and follow, but she was still a Muslim, but not a good one. Since she disregarded the teachings of Islam, Allah made her heart hard and made   blind.

"You pray , Astagfirullah! We pray together. What are you saying right now? How could you do this to me? " All people who have learned about religion performed their worship through prayer. But there were people who prayed but still committed wrong deeds. Who were these people? They were those who were slaves of their desire. Who used religion to justify their desires. In Islam, these were those people, who misrepresented the religion. Who claimed to be Muslim  by clothes, movements, and words but not by true act or heart.

"This is life, Yerein, messy, dirty, and ugly, and it couldn't be cured by just hope or by beautiful words."

"Life will stop messing up if you start to work on prayer."

"I am happy how life carved me. My life is a beautiful craft, I am supposed to be a sinner, but he didn't punish me. But look at you. You almost kissed the humiliation and hugged the hatred, but your prayer still brought you to this dirt." Jarannya explained how Yerein's life turned into misery.

"Suffering in this world will lessen the punishment in the hereafter." Yerein defended herself.

"If that is true, I will find out when I am already there," Jarannya answered while holding the edge of the bed. She threw the words, but she couldn't deny the fact that she felt fear.

"Be careful about your words, once you're there, there is no turning back" Yerein warned her"You will never be right Yerein"

Jarannya shut again, dodging every scary word of Yerein.

----

"Yerein" is her name. A girl who trusted too much, who loved too much, but still, remained alone. Alone in the interrogation room, where the noise of laughter couldn't be heard. Where her innocence couldn't be seen and where her verdict was already written...

This is a work of fiction, but it reflects a hidden, painful reality.

Come join me as I mix in with my ink and words.Let's roll over to the rifle of betrayal and dodge the unstoppable bullets of love.

This is my work. This is my book
