"CALM DOWN EVANGELINE, TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED," Kate says, as she pours her a cup of animal blood, sitting beside her on the sofa, putting her hand on her back.

"I was about to go back to my apartment. I heard a woman yelling for help. Then I heard a man telling her to keep it quiet," Evangeline begins, looking at the fireplace, twisting the gold band on her ring finger.

"I rushed to where she was, Kate. She was about to get raped in an alleyway," Evangeline looked at her, knowing what she meant by it. Kate nodded, encouraging her to continue.

"I got so mad, I made the woman run, and...and I was so furious and hungry, I lost control, I killed him," Evangeline tells Kate.

"Shh, it's okay. You had a hard time adjusting. He was a rapist, Evangeline. He deserves it," Kate assures as she wraps a blanket around her.

"I've been a vampire for a century, Kate. I should have better control," Evangeline says as she leans down on Kate's shoulder.

Kate was about to respond, but the door suddenly opened, revealing two other blonde women, fresh from hunting.

"Evangeline!" Irina and Tanya exclaimed in unison, rushing towards their sister about to give a hug, but Evangeline looked at them with her red eyes, regret spreading across her features.

Tanya and Irina were shocked but shrugged it off anyway, knowing how Evangeline was feeling at the moment. Walking towards Evangeline and Kate, Irina sat on the floor while Tanya sat next to Evangeline.

"We don't blame you," Tanya begins, knowing that Evangeline is giving herself a hard time.

"We also had a hard time adjusting to this lifestyle," Irina continues, patting Evangeline's knee.

"Where's Eleazar and Carmen?" Evangeline asks the three blondes.

"They drove the Cullens to the airport," Kate answers while she brushes Evangeline's blond hair with her fingers.

"The Cullens? Our cousins? From Forks?" Evangeline asks, suddenly curious about why the Cullens stayed with her family.

"You never met them. Sadly, you were studying college in Amsterdam back then when they stayed here for four years, and now, they just stayed here for two months. I think they are heading off to New York now," Irina answers while putting more wood on the fireplace.

"Why did they come here then? Must have a reason," Evangeline asks, looking at Tanya.

Tanya just sighed, making herself comfortable on the sofa. "Edward's mate is a human. Something happened on the human's birthday, Jasper, Edward's coven mate, lost control, and they decided that they were too dangerous for the human, so they left Forks," Tanya tells her with a frown. She was sad that Edward wasn't her mate.

Jasper, like the name of someone she knew when she was human, he's long gone now, she thought to herself.

"They just left her? After they told her our kind? What if the human was mad and told off," Evangeline says, knowing that it's the Volturi's most sacred law.

"It's none of our business. That's their problem now," Irina says.

"Poor girl must be heartbroken," Evangeline says with a frown.

"So, what have you been up to these past few years?" Kate asks. She was interested in Evangeline's travels, and she was glad that the woman was finally enjoying her immortality.

"It's been great!..." Evangeline's mood suddenly brightens up, telling her sisters what she has been doing for the past few years.
