Backstory: Yewpaw was born to a cat named Littleroot, who was the daughter of an evil RiverClan warrior. Littleroot left the Clan because she felt judged after her mother died, but was carrying kits. She never told the father and made friends with a barn cat named Poppy, who adopted the three kits after Littleroot died in a fire. He was crossing RiverClan territory when he was attacked and killed by a patrol, and the kits were taken in.
