Kadmoss, a wandering vagabond who travels from place to place, lives a solitary and independent life. He has traveled the known world many times over, from the north of Scotland to the far reaches of Eastern Asia. His life is forever changed however when he discovers a skeletal monster, a monster that in Kadmoss' eyes has just as much right to life as any human. Armed with only his katana, his wits and whatever he can scavenge and claw for himself, Kadmoss will try to find enough food for the both of them, train his new pupil to survive, all the while trying evade the Templar's, a religious order of zealots dedicated to hunting all manor of mages and cryptic.

Kadmoss must be weary though, for he has his own secrets to protect, even from his new ward.
