The Past Shall Remains

Melody wakes up with another nightmare but she was too used to it to wake up scared. She flutter her eyes open and sits upright on her red canopy bed, and softly push her black locks of hair off of her face. She turn to the side and dangle her feet off the bedside and stands up. The girl walks over to her dressing table and picks up her phone and presses down on the power button, looking at the lock screen showing the time of 4:45AM.
It's way too early but she's too wide awake to even care, the girl walks into her bathroom to get herself into her usual black dress. She walks to her mirror and brush her long hair and tie it into a messy bun instead, the girl picks up her black lipstick and softly paint her lips. Its only a thin layer as she set it back down and fix her locks of hair here and there. The girl wear on her boots as she picks up her things before walking down the stairs and grabbing her lace Victorian umbrella.
The girl turns all of her lights off in the house and steps out on her porch to lock the door. The black haired girl opens her umbrella and hovers it over her head and begin walking her way to the hotel, the city is so quiet with barely anybody around. She thought maybe she could have a peaceful time walking to the hotel but it came to an end when she sees someone familiar from afar, his red striped suit give it all.
Pretending that she doesn't notice him, the girl lowered her umbrella from looking at people's faces as she walk past him. But it didn't help whatsoever, Alastor quickly grabs on her wrist making her turn around to look at him.
"I thought so it was you, dear! Why are you up so early at this time of the morning?" He asks, his voice laced with his usual radio static and charm. Melody was a bit uncomfortable that he's holding her wrist, due to what happened to her in her past her hand could literally pop off from her arm so she couldn't do much and not pull her hand away. Melody looks up at him, also tilting the umbrella onto her shoulder.
"Well I woke up and couldn't fall back asleep. I thought I could just head to the hotel to help out." Melody answer, eyeing his claw like hands that had a firm grip of her wrist. Alastor notice this and lets her wrist go, the girl mumble a quiet thanks before rubbing her wrist and tugging on her half gloves.
"Well aren't you a helpful girl! That's very lovely of you to do so. Here, I'll accompany you to the hotel as I'm heading there too." He offered as Melody steps to the side and nod quietly, the radio demon smiles his usual smile as they both walk down the street to the hotel. It was quiet for a moment before Alastor noticed something, "I see that you've changed the style of your hair, it looks quite stylish on you!" He complemented.
"Thanks, I just thought I'd wear it like that so it would be much easier for me to do work." Melody says, but deep inside her thoughts she was thinking, 'Was he staring at me? I'm sure my umbrella would cover myself, huh..'
"You're welcome, my dear and ah, that is quite true." He reply as he looks around, he does know that Melody wasn't the type to strike up conversations unless she's close with one and knows what they like to talk about. "Say, may I ask you a question, darling?" He asks as he glances to the girl in front of him. Melody hummed a response, not turning to him.
"What is it?" She reply as she kept her eyes focused in front of her.
"You seem to cover yourself with that umbrella, is there a reason? If you don't mind me asking, my dear." His eyes turns to the place all around them as they pass by it, waiting for a reply. It was quiet for a second as she shook her head, not minding him asking a question.
"I don't like showing myself to people outside, I cover myself up as much as I could. A lady should value her self worth." She reply with a bit of maturity laced in her tone. Alastor smiled even more towards that answer, it truly sound like how she'd answered. Without noticing, they both had already arrive at the hotel as Melody closes her umbrella and hangs it's curly handle on her wrist. Before she could open the door herself, Alastor opens it for her.
"Ladies first." He gestured, Melody nods as thanks as she walks in and followed after the radio demon himself as he closes the door behind him. The girl walks up to the reception counter as she walks inside of it, putting her umbrella in a room behind it as she walks back out. The girl looks around, everyone is sure still asleep, huh.
Melody glances at the clock nearby to see that its already 5AM, probably Charlie or/and Vaggie would be awake soon. The black haired girl slowly tap her fingers on the counter before realising that the hotel is too quiet to her liking. The girl turns to a radio nearby her and turns it, playing an old song. It's her favourite after Booty swing.
She made sure it wasn't too loud to wake up the others in a jolt, the song start off as she tapped her feet to the beat and pulls out a duster from the back room and went around the lobby - literally pulling couches like it was nothing and decorating the lobby. Despite Alastor being there, the girl ignored his existence as she danced and sang her heart in the morning away as she worked around.
"If romantin' me with neons, is something you should do," She sings as she holds up her hands right above her shoulder level to create a small puff of red smoke and a few roses appeared as she puts them in a vase by the counter. She continue to move around, Alastor watched her from the other side of the room, his eyes seem to be glued to the girl. She doesn't seem lively before, it was as if the second music enters her eardrums; her eyes lits up like gemstones.
The last lyric of the song slip from her lips as she stops dancing and looks around the lobby, seeing how organized and well decorated it is. And just like how Alastor thought, the dull in her eyes returned the second the music had stopped. The girl tucks a lock of her black hair behind her ear as she walks to the back of the room to put the items away that she had used for cleaning.
The sound of footsteps could be heard as Charlie came into view with Vaggie by her side, they were chattering until the two girls noticed Alastor's presence in the lobby.
"Oh, good morning, Alastor." Charlie greets and Vaggie only glared.
"Good morning, you lovely ladies!" He reply with his usual smile.
"What are you doing here so early?" She asks but got herself distracted when she noticed the lobby, it looked more pleasing to the eyes. "Oh my! Did you do all of this?" Instead of questioning the first question the princess had asked, Alastor shakes his head.
"No it wasn't me, it was Melody's doing." He gestured to the door of the back room as Melody walks out right on time, her hair back to the usual high ponytail. Charlie beamed and squealed as she runs up to Melody and tackled her into a hug, the girl widened her eyes in surprise but hug the other girl back.
"Oh my gosh, thank you, thank you so much, Mel!" She says and she jumps up and down. Melody takes it from the decorating the lobby, as the girl smiles and nodded.
"I did say I'd help in any way that I can. Also, good morning to you too." She smiles, her sharp teeth barely showing as she looks at Vaggie and nodded at her, she returned it. Alastor watched them, noticing how Melody seem to smile more around the two than anyone else.
Everyone turns their head when the front door of the hotel open slowly, Angel steps in tip-toeing as if nobody saw him. He turns around as he jumps in surprise,
"Would you mind telling me where you were?" Melody asks as she softly brushes Charlie's hands off her shoulders and walks up a bit closer to the spider. Angel glances away as he pondered,
"Uhh, I went out for some fresh air- yeah!" He says, obviously being the worst liar. Melody acted as if she believed as she nodded and turns around but the second Angel turns unguarded, the girl turns around with a big black scythe around his neck. Angel immediately tenses up, "Wait, wait, wait!" He blurt out. Mel's eyes narrowed, Angel jumps. "I was out drinking!" He blurts out the truth, feeling the sharp blade of the scythe right behind his neck. Melody sighs as she pulls her scythe away and sets it down beside her.
"You're lucky that I'm in a good mood or I would've cut you into my breakfast." Mel threatened, but something didn't feel right. There was something else that he did.
"Who's that?" Vaggie points out as a girl from behind Angel walks out. Melody looks at her and tilts her head, her black ombre dark purple hair is tied up in space buns, her right eye is lilac meanwhile her right is missing, replaced with a blue orchid. Her skin is tanned, wearing a crop jacket that's a bit off her shoulders with only wearing a black bra underneath, black shorts, purple thigh socks and converse.
"Damn that was feisty, babe." The girl grins as she looks at Melody, the said girl blinks as she stays quiet and makes her scythe disappear.
"Oh, Sin! Haven't seen you in a while, where have you been?" Vaggie smiles as she walks up to the girl, Charlie following.
"Oh heyya, Vaggie. Just been fucking people here and there, nothing much." The girl chuckles as if it was a joke. As the two talk with each other, Melody slips away as she walks away in silence and to the kitchen, Alastor watches her walk away — her usual blank face is still displayed like always; hiding all of her emotions.
"My bitch here got herself into a tight situation, I had to go get her and we went to the bar after." Angel laughs as he wraps his arm around Sin's neck in a friendly way, Sin was laughing but it kinda cracked a bit the second he does that. Vaggie smirks as she notices,
"I'll let you off the hook this time, Angel. Just because you went out to help Sin." Charlie smiles, Angel smiles back as he finger guns.
"Thanks, babe." He says as he turns to Sin and pulls her closer to him, "You better not get your sorry ass in more danger, sugar." Sin looks away and laugh it off,
"I'd get in my ass in more danger if you'd be the one to save me." Sin winks at him and he laughs. They walk to the couches as Sin notices Alastor standing by the family portrait of Magne, he kinda looks like Lucifer with the same ever-lasting smile. Sin walks up to Alastor as she gets in his personal bubble, Alastor only glances down at the female while backing away a bit.
"Why hello there young lady!" Alastor greets, Sin smirks as she gets in his face.
"Oh hey Daddy~ How are you doing?" She flirts and Alastor ignores what she had just called him and steps away as Sin was about to lean on him which made her trip a bit on her foot.
"I'm doing just great, my dear!" He smiles, his hands behind his back as he reply. Sin narrows her eyebrows and stands up properly,
"Ugh, you're no fun." Sin mumbles as she walks back to the others, Alastor only smiles as he watches her go back to the others. Its like he sees something in her that is humane. In a few minutes after, Melody pushes the door of the kitchen using her back as Alastor looks over - her hands are holding up a tray of two teapots and teacups and a plate of cookies, muffins and other snacks that would go well with tea and coffee.
Her face is still blank like usual as she walks over to the couches and set them down on the coffee table in between them. Charlie smiled and almost jumped in her seat,
"The snacks smells good, Melody!" She complemented the scent of bakery. Melody then smile back at her which it disappear right after. Sin's eye lit up as she saw the cookies.
"Oh hell yes! My favourite!" She squealed and takes one as she bite down on it, Angel laughs at her behaviour. Melody turns to Alastor which he looks back at her,
"Would you care to join them?" She asks, there is no smile on her face. But her voice was soft, Alastor laughs amusingly as he walks over.
"Thought you'd never ask!" His radio voice beamed as he sits down on the one chaired couch. Melody then walks away back into the kitchen, leaving them to have their morning tea, or coffee. As they eat away to their heart's content, Sin turns to Angel and Vaggie.
"Who's that girl? I never seen her before." Sin asks as she stuffs cookies into her mouth. Angel glances at the kitchen door where she was last seen and turns back to Sin,
"Oh that chick? Her name's Melody, she doesn't talk much to others expect for Charlie and Vaggie." Angel shrugs his shoulders. "She's really fuckin' scary if you ask me." Vaggie rolls her eye,
"You're saying that just because you don't like her." Vaggie turns to Sin to explain it better, "Like Angel said, here name is Melody we call her Mel for short. She's been here for a long time, probably longer than any of us. Now that I think about it, even though her, me and Charlie been side by side for years we never really know her." Vaggie suddenly questions herself with her own explanation. Charlie thought about it too and something clicked in her as she snaps her fingers.
"Oh yeah, now I remember!" Charlie clasps her hands together. "Back then, she used to work with my parents!" She smiles, Vaggie widened her eyes.
"Really? I never knew about that, then she have been here for a long time huh." Sin wondered for a second, the name of 'Melody'. But when she tries to connect it to the time when she was alive, it became foggy and confusing.
"I'm gonna go and talk to her." Sin says as she stands up with a cookie in her mouth. Angel turns to her and warned her,
"Don't get on her nerves, which is hard to get on but she's not afraid to cut someone up." Angel says, for once kind of serious. Sin stayed quiet but she grins,
"I have my ways~" As she winks and walks into the kitchen, Angel sighs.
"If she gets in trouble, I can't save her this time." Angel says as he bites down on a cookie.
"-Cookies you made tastes amazing!" Sin hears a girly voice, the second she walks in she sees a short demon with one big eye. Melody sitting on a stool and twirling a lock of her hair with her finger smiles,
"It's not something that big, I used to love to bake a lot. But thanks, Niffty." She thank the girl, 'Niffty' nods as she remembers something.
"Oh! I forgot to do something, I'll see you later Melody!" She cheers as she jumps off her own stool and runs out the kitchen, smiling to Sin as she pass by. Melody didn't see to notice Sin by the doorway as she was staring at the wall, still twirling her hair. She walks up to the girl and sits on a stool next to her,
"Hey, hun." She greets, Melody looks at her with the usual blank face.
"Hello." Melody reply, her eyes going back to the wall as if she was in a deep thought.
"The name's, Sin. What's yours?" She asks as she leans forward on the counter too, even though Sin already knew her name - she just couldn't find the words to have a conversation with the girl.
"Melody, nice to meet you." She says as she turns back to Sin with a blank face.
"Nice to meet you too, babe." It was quiet for a second before Sin glances out the door which is a bit cracked open to look at Alastor. "You don't happen to know him do you? Well, you did sound friendly to him before." Sin asks, Melody nods.
"I do know him, for years. All advice for you is, don't get too close to him - he doesn't like being touched and he will break your arm if you try to." She says as she rests her cheek on her hand which squishes due to her soft cheeks. Sin chuckles,
"Guessing you tried touching him before, huh?" She tease but it didn't affect the other girl.
"No, I wouldn't even find the reason why someone would even do that. But Angel tried to before and let's just say he ended up screaming." Melody says, a slight smile came on her lips as if she was amused. Sin start laughing,
"It's typical of him to do that." Sin says, but before she could say anything else - Angel's voice from the lobby called out to her.
"Sin! The cookies are going to be gone soon!" He shouts, Sin gasps as she shouts back.
"Oh no you don't! I'll kill you if you finish those!" She jumps off the stool and before she walks out the door, she turns to Melody who is watching her leave. "Bye, Mel. Oh and also, I kinda like you — you remind me of someone. See ya later, hun." She winks as she walks out to run and tackle Angel for even trying to take the cookies.
The second Sin closes the door, realization hit her. Her eyes widened as her mouth opened agape but she closes her mouth with her half gloved hand as she looks at the counter. Silence filled the room as her thought once again pulled her into it's endless loop of train.
